Best Oilers vs Stars SGP for Saturday

While Game 1 did not go Dallas’ way, it’s still the superior all-around team. At 5-on-5 this postseason, the Stars outrank the Oilers in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60), expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60) and expected goal differential per 60 minutes.
Not only is Dallas arguably better both offensively and defensively, but it is also better in net with the Jake Oettinger versus Stuart Skinner matchup. This postseason, Oettinger paces Skinner in both SV% and GAA.
When you add in home ice and a pretty much must-win situation, the Stars are the team to back on Saturday. However, that doesn’t mean that this game won’t feature some scoring from both teams as we look to the prop market.
Let’s start with Dallas forward Tyler Seguin, who scored each of the team’s two goals in Game 1. He keeps firing on net at will, and at this point, we just have to ride the hot hand.
Seguin has buried the puck five times over his past six games, and he now co-leads the team in even-strength goals in these playoffs. I mention that ranking because Edmonton has struggled defensively at 5-on-5, ranking in the bottom half among the 16 playoff teams in xGA/60.
He has also specifically torched the Oilers over the past half-decade, scoring seven goals over the past 12 meetings. On the other hand, it is usually a safe bet for Leon Draisaitl to find the back of the net for the Oilers.
Not only did he score in Game 1, but Draisaitl is second on the team with nine goals across 13 playoff games. Oettinger has been tough to beat, but if anyone is going to do it, then it’s likely to come from the stick of Edmonton’s best pure sniper.
