The golf season's fourth and final major championship — the 2024 British Open — is heading to Royal Troon in Scotland from July 18-21.

Last year's Open Championship at Royal Liverpool saw Brian Harman crush the field and cruise to victory, beating Jon Rahm and three others by six shots.

However, it's the standard trio of guys at the top of the 2024 board, which includes Rahm, Rory McIlroy, and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

We break down the favorites, the field, and more in our full Open Championship golf odds below.

Favorites to win the 2024 British Open

Rory McIlroy (+800 to +900)

While still in the midst of a 10-year major championship drought, Rory McIlroy has found himself at the top of the board after some incredible golf over the last year and change. He last won the Scottish Open, which serves as the annual appetizer for the Open.

Altogether, Rory has finished worse than T9 just twice in his last 14 tournaments, which also includes a runner-up performance at the U.S. Open back in June.

While the 2014 Open winner remains winless at the majors since 2014, he's given himself several great chances — look no further than the final round in 2022.

Scottie Scheffler (+900 to +1,000)

He went from zero to six PGA Tour wins in less than 18 months, won his first major championship title at the 2022 Masters, and is now routinely in contention at every major.

Scratch that. Scheffler's in the running any time he decides to play, regardless of the tournament's stature. He rattled off seven straight Top-5 finishes over the summer and finished no worse than 12th throughout 19 tournaments in a run that also included two wins.

His game can travel almost anywhere and that includes links golf, as he finished T8, T21, and T23 in his first three Open Championship tries. Could he knock on the door of another major in 2024?

Jon Rahm (+900 to +1,000)

Death, taxes, and Jon Rahm being among the favorites in every event he tees it up in.

After being on a roll to start last season, culminating with a Green Jacket at the Masters, Rahm wasn't at his best for much of the year but returned to form in a dominant Ryder Cup performance in Rome.

He finished T34 at St. Andrews in 2022 but T2 a year ago. You can expect him to be a serious threat again in 2024.
