I lost my mind watching that, couldn’t believe it
@Redlad
I can’t even imagine. Talk about your night going from glorious to crap in the blink of an eye. Hopefully your buddy will bounce back tonight. Cheers!

No problem. It was a disappointing evening all around for both of us. He had also been very hot with his wagers recently as well. So, one bad beat won't ruin his evening completely. Like I have always stated, when wagering on sports, you can't win all the time. It goes with the territory. There's too much luck involved. You have to take your loses in stride, & move on. As long as you show a substantial profit at the end of the year, there's no use in crying over a losing night, or week. i'm probably passing on tonight's card, in the NHL. I'll be playing a few college basketball games. You might want to check them out. Best of luck!

OK, off to watch the Islanders play tonight. I was going to pass, but I decided to make a small play on a side, since I'm going to the game. The Canucks are horrible, but I go by the odds, & I think the Islanders are slightly overpriced. It's probably due to the addition of Horvat to the Islanders squad, giving the market a reason to expect, much more goal scoring from them. That might be true, but how much is it worth in setting the number at - 220? Like I typed, I believe it's slightly overpriced. We'll see. So. I played
Canucks + 1.5 - 130 at Bet online
My friend, who is a heavy hitter, is playing
The Panther's - 1.5 + 110 ========= This will not count on my record, just passing on information.
Best Of Luck!!

@Redlad
What bet amounts would be considered a heavy hitter, over $10k per play? thanks
Good luck with your plays

Hey red quick question,
so I’ve found the 3 stats that I’ve been basing my picks on, but I am unsure how to put those into my own line/odds. I’m trying to keep it relatively simple like you mentioned! Thanks !

Since I posted analytics in another thread. I'll not go into a long-winded analysis. My play is
Black-Hawks Even still available at Bet Online, I believe
Off to watch the Rangers play the Kraken, with my heavy hitter friend. I just taped up my ribs to avoid injury. More elbows thrown by him, than the whole Rangers team. So, I'll post his rather large play, with the caveat, that I don't agree with the side he's betting, even though he's normally a very good handicapper. I'm not betting the game, however the Kraken figure to be hungry for at least one win in what is a very lengthy road-trip. He played
Rangers - 1.5 Goals + 140
I'll update my record tomorrow, hopefully.

I wanted to focus on form of the last 5 games, form of the goalie, last 10 power play stats, home/road wins and losses, and wanted to incorporate SOS!

SOS is important. Starting goalies, are actually overrated, unless the back-up is pure garbage, such as Detroit's horror show Nedeljkovic. They sent him down. Hot streaks & cold streaks are also something we need to pay attention to, when making a line. Always remember that the line is made with the intention to beat the public. They allow sharps to bet into opening lines to adjust any bad numbers that may be soft, at a lower amount (Usually no more than $5,000). The next day, the public can bet up to $50,000 on a hockey side, 25,000 on a hockey total. The lines are solid. Pay attention to the sharp sportsbooks (like Chis Pinnacle & Heritage) because they cater to sharp action. When they move a number 1 point or more, you don't want to be fighting that move. The least important thing to look at when handicapping a hockey game is FOW. Do you know who the leads that category? The Chicago Black Hawks. Create power ratings for all the NHL teams, & compare them with the oddsmakers numbers. When you have a huge difference, go with the odds-maker. They're rarely wrong. It's difficult explaining every aspect of creating a solid line on a posting forum. I think one has to understand the very basics first. I hope that I somewhat answered the question you asked. Likewise, I'm sure you understand I can't give away all the secrets. MacDonald doesn't reveal their secret sauce, either. Lol ====== Keep learning. You have a good start. Best of luck!

Got it, as always thank you for helping me. Means so much. So say I wanted to make a line/rankings based on only on SOS and recent form of the last 5 games. How could I make that stat/line?

I just typed a very long explanation, when my computer crashed. Start by looking at Jeff Sagarin ratings. Unfortunately, you won't be able to compare his numbers to the odds-makers, & show a profit. Those days are long gone. But, it still is a good place to begin. I utilize a method I created 35 years ago, when working for the Vegas Odds-maker Bob Martin. I call it the 34 Number Method. It has earned me a very good living, over that time span. That's what I call Macdonald's secret sauce system. I have never revealed it to anyone. It adjusts the power rating to a point that puts the player at an advantage, against the stated line. It has produced at a win rate of approximately 58%, in all sports. The Proof? = Is in the pudding. Line anything else it will have it's bad days, but, as long as you can hit at that win rate, over the long haul, you're in business. I will leave it to you in my will. Lol, That's the best I can do, at this point in time. Don't try and kidnap me, it's already been tried, because I now live in NYC, still the home of the 5 families, if you get my drift. Best of luck!

Haha red as always I really appreciate your insight. I’m going to keep going to see what I can figure out. I won’t mess with the 5 families in New York !

I'm going to start a new thread. Right now, my NCAA hoops have been awful. Betting on bad teams, that have nothing to play for, is a road to disaster. Especially young college kids. I should know better. I'll be back shortly.
