The Indiana Fever may be on a four-game winning streak, but they're underdogs against the Chicago Sky on June 23. WNBA odds doubting Caitlin Clark and the Fever is mildly surprising, given they beat these same Sky by eight just a week ago.

My analysis
Even if the Chicago Sky are favored by a bucket, this may be a “sell high” opportunity on the Indiana Fever. Indy has won four straight, both outright and against the spread, the closest victories coming by seven points. Thanks to this surge, Indiana is currently in playoff position.

There is a long ways to go between now and the postseason, but the Fever are two wins ahead of the Sky for that final playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Chicago lost four straight before topping the flailing Wings this week. The Sky even lost to the last place Washington Mystics. This may be a “buy low” opportunity on Chicago, despite being a favorite.

The Sky rank No. 6 in the WNBA in net rating, leaps and bounds ahead of the Fever’s league-worst net rating. Even with this four-game winning streak, Indiana still boasts the worst defense in the WNBA — 4.3 points worse per 100 possessions than Dallas'.

Until the Fever find some defense, habit will be to doubt them.

Is there any reason to doubt that habit today? This spread is within the mark it should be. A week ago, with Indiana at home, the Fever were 2.5-point favorites against the Sky. That number jumping the fence by a bucket today makes sense, simply given home-court advantages.

Should Indiana be given more credit for that win and the two that followed? Beating the Dream and the Mystics is nothing to be too proud of. The dredges of the WNBA are the dredges for a reason.

My analysis
Caitlin Clark went 3-for-7 from deep a week ago against the Sky, surprising considering Chicago gives up the fewest looks from deep in the WNBA (20.4 per game).

Yes, during this four-game winning streak, Clark has gone 10-for-27 from deep, but she still fell short of this prop twice. To continue seeing these Caitlin Clark odds at plus odds is a mistake by the oddsmakers.

The Sky should chase Clark off the perimeter more today, partly because that is Chicago’s usual and partly as an overreaction to Clark’s offensive display a week ago.

Clark does more than shoot from deep. She's given out at least six assists in each of her last four games while shooting 63.2% from inside the arc. If and when Chicago chases Clark from the arc, she'll still propel Indiana’s offense.
