The Chicago Sky are coming off an inspiring come-from-behind victory over the Indiana Fever, but will have their hands full when they face a Las Vegas Aces team that has looked unstoppable since the return of Chelsea Gray.

My analysis
The Chicago Sky made a bunch of big bets this offseason, but it didn't stop with taking both Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardosa in the draft.
One addition that has flown under the radar and paid massive dividends comes from Chennedy Carter. Originally a fourth-overall pick by the Atlanta Dream in 2020, Carter quickly found herself traded a couple of years into her career, waived a year later, and didn’t even play for a WNBA team in 2023.
The 25-year-old guard has since forced her way into Chicago's starting lineup by proving to be the best offensive weapon on the entire roster. Carter is an elite driver who relentlessly slashes to the basket over and over again. She’s shooting 55.3% from the field on the season, which is fifth in the entire W, trailing only Jonquel Jones, Brittney Griner, Brionna Jones, and Nneka Ogwumike.
And the closer Carter gets to the rim, the more effective her herky-jerky style is. She’s shooting a scorching 71.5% within five feet of the basket. Her supreme touch wouldn’t matter so much if not for the fact that she marries it with an unreal first step.
Carter is up to 19.1 points over her last four games, and in the three games since, she’s been named a starter she’s averaging 20. The Las Vegas Aces' best defenders are their bigs in A’ja Wilson and Kiah Stokes, and they’ll have their hands full trying to keep Reese and Cardoso off the glass. Although Chelsea Gray is a strong defender, she’s still working her way back into game shape after a long injury layoff.
Given that both these teams rank Top-4 in pace, I’m expecting Carter to have plenty of chances to attack the paint and do what she does best.

The Sky are one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the W, in large part because of how dominant Reese has proven to be on the glass.
However, the Aces are by far the best defensive rebounding team in the league behind the work of Wilson and Stokes. Their 76.9% defensive rebounding rate is 3.6% better than the second-place New York Liberty.
While Carter has proven herself able to navigate and score in tight spaces, the rest of the Sky rely on their rebounding to generate offense. They should struggle to score against an Aces team that is best in class at limiting opponent possessions to one shot.
