Rangers vs Orioles Prediction, Picks, & Odds for Tonight’s MLB Game

The Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers will wrap up a series on June 30 in prime time for Sunday Night Baseball.

Baltimore is looking for a four-game sweep over Texas as it continues to roll. Rather than taking a side, my Rangers vs. Orioles predictions are focusing on the Over in what should be a high-scoring affair.

My analysis
There are many reasons why I'm on the Over, but situationally, the Texas Rangers will come out slugging, looking to avoid being swept, and both of these pitchers are underwhelming. I projected 9.8 runs here, so we're almost getting a fun run of value. 

Cole Irvin is taking the mound for the Baltimore Orioles, and I've faded him a lot this season which has been relatively profitable. Irvin has many issues, and they've yet to hit him as hard as possible. 

An expected ERA best illustrates these issues, sitting over an entire run against his actual ERA. Irvin will enter today with a hard-hit rate well below average and a barrel rate even worse than that, sitting in the Bottom 5% of baseball. The Rangers have had their problems, but putting the ball on the barrel isn't one.

On the other hand, Baltimore has plenty of ways to pursue Andrew Heaney. In many ways, his issues mirror his counterpart, and the O's are more well-equipped to exploit them.

Baltimore comes into this game as likely the best-power team in baseball. With Gunnar Henderson playing like an MVP candidate over the last two weeks, that has only gone up a notch. The Orioles come into today ranking second in barrel rate, first in hard-hit rate, and second in average velocity. They are the only team in baseball ranked in the Top 3 of all three metrics.

Expect both SP to get hit, and hit hard.
