Basketball season is not over. The WNBA season is just starting to roll, and some of the league's brightest stars are finding their respective grooves while others have an advantageous matchup tonight.

Targeting the WNBA odds in that matchup spurs our free WNBA picks on Tuesday, June 18 before Sparks vs. Sun and Liberty vs. Mercury tip off tonight.

WNBA player prop bets for June 18

Today's best WNBA player props bets

Prop bet #1: Bonner bounces back

DeWanna Bonner began her 15th season in emphatic fashion, reaching 20 points in her first four games and topping this points prop in eight of her first nine games. But now she has fallen off, topping out at 17 points in the last four games despite shooting 7 of 20 from deep.

It may be just a lull, but more likely it comes as a result of facing two Top 6 defenses amid two blowouts against the two worst defenses in the WNBA.

Enter the fourth-worst defense in the W. The Los Angeles Sparks are closer to the No. 5 defensive rating than they are to the worst unit in the WNBA, the Indiana Fever’s paltry defense. So, in theory, Los Angeles should keep this game close enough to require Bonner to play more than 30 minutes, unlike either the Fever or the Wings managed the last week.

But the Sparks should also roll over and give Bonner plenty of worthwhile looks. She is still shooting plenty, she just needs minutes to crack 18 points.

Even in this plausible four-game lull, Bonner has scored 16 points twice and 17 points once. She is not far off from continuing this strong start to the season.

DeWanna Bonner prop: Over 17.5 points (-113 at FanDuel)

Prop bet #2: Thomas turns up Sun offense

Alyssa Thomas has hit the same lull as Bonner. She began the season averaging nine assists in the first eight games before slipping to 6.8 in her last five.

To start the season, Thomas topped this assists prop in five of eight games. She has now done so only once in her last five. What changed?

Again, strong defenses and blowouts led Thomas to barely fall short of this prop. Three wins by 17 or more points cut Thomas’s minutes to 32, 27, and 29, respectively. Facing two of the Top 6 defenses held down her props to seven and four.

A blowout tonight could cut into Thomas’s minutes again, but with three days off since the Connecticut Sun’s last game and three more days off before their next game, there is no need to rest Connecticut’s stars. Instead, this should serve as something of a get-right game.

Alyssa Thomas prop: Over 7.5 assists (-139 at BetRivers)

Prop bet #3: Buy Brittney ASAP

For what it’s worth, FanDuel lists Brittney Griner at +8500 in the WNBA MVP odds. It is hard to imagine anyone but A’ja Wilson winning the honor, but some notice should start being given to Griner.

Yes, she missed a quarter of the season, but she has returned to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a 3-1 mark in her four games played and has scored at least 24 points in her three games with no minutes restriction. Griner has shot 64.6% from the field in those three tilts while getting to the free throw line 5.7 times per game.

Buy in now before it's too late.

At the very least, start tailing Griner’s points prop for a week or two. Yes, she is going against the New York Liberty tonight, and they enjoy the No. 4 defensive rating in the WNBA. There is reason to think Griner may be slowed.

There are two counters, though. First of all, she just scored 28 points on 10 of 15 shooting against the No. 3 defense in the WNBA, the Seattle Storm. Secondly, getting Over 20.5 at plus money still allows for Griner to fall short of her current surge while still cashing this bet.

Brittney Griner prop: Over 20.5 points (+120 at DraftKings)
