ST. LOUIS -- Rookie running back Todd Gurley continued to provide much-needed life to the St. Louis offense Sunday, rushing for 128 yards and two second-half touchdowns as the Rams pulled away from the Cleveland Browns for a 24-6 victory at the Edward Jones Dome.

Gurley's 1-yard scoring run with 2:14 left in the third quarter was his first NFL touchdown, giving the Rams (3-3) a 17-6 advantage. He added a 16-yard jaunt off right tackle with 8:11 remaining, making a sharp cut from right to left and then running through contact at the 5 to seal the result.

St. Louis' defense got the best of a Cleveland offense which averaged 26.2 points in its previous five games, forcing four turnovers and recording four sacks of quarterback Josh McCown.

Free safety Rodney McLeod got the Rams off to a flying start, recovering a fumble by wide receiver Taylor Gabriel and sprinting 17 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead just over three minutes into the game.

Another Browns fumble, this time by McCown when he was sacked by defensive end William Hayes, was recovered by linebacker Akeem Ayers at the Cleveland 25. St. Louis converted that into a 39-yard field goal by kicker Greg Zuerlein for a 10-0 advantage at the 7:33 mark of the first quarter.

Browns kicker Travis Coons hit on 25- and 44-yard field goals to pull his team within four points early in the third quarter, but that was it for the Cleveland offense.

McCown enjoyed a strong day statistically, completing 26 of 32 for 270 yards, but also accounted for two of the team's four lost fumbles. He left the game late in the fourth quarter with right shoulder injury and was replaced by Johnny Manziel.

Browns tight end Gary Barnidge caught six passes for 101 yards, but didn't bag a touchdown catch for the first time in five games, dating back to Sept. 20.

Rams quarterback Nick Foles connected on 15 of 23 attempts for 163 yards.

It was the fourth loss in five games for Cleveland (2-5).

NOTES: Cleveland RBs Isaiah Crowell, Duke Johnson and Robert Turbin combined for 20 yards on 13 first-half carries. ... Browns WR Andrew Hawkins (concussion) left the game in the fourth quarter and didn't return. ... St. Louis' James Laurinaitis made his 102nd straight start Sunday, the third-longest streak among NFL linebackers.
