Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves Box Score on Apr 06, 2019

Jorge Alfaro hit two home runs, the second a two-run shot in the ninth inning that allowed the visiting Miami Marlins to beat the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Saturday night.

Alfaro hit a solo shot in the fifth inning against Atlanta starter Kyle Wright and connected for his third of the season with one out in the ninth against lefty reliever A.J. Minter. The game-winner was a long blast into the right field stands.

The Marlins broke their four-game losing streak and snapped Atlanta's four-game winning streak. Miami also ended Atlanta's home-field winning streak at nine games and broke the Braves' nine-game head-to-head winning streak against the Marlins.

Minter (0-1) was activated from the injured list on Thursday and has struggled in both appearances since his return. He allowed two runs on two hits in one-third of an inning Saturday.

The winning pitcher was Sergio Romo (1-0). The right-hander worked 1 1/3 shutout innings but was lifted in favor of lefty Adam Conley after retiring the first batter of the ninth.

Conley allowed a single to left-handed-hitting Freddie Freeman, then struck out Ronald Acuna Jr. on a 3-2 slider. Nick Markakis reached on an error by shortstop JT Riddle, and Johan Camargo was intentionally walked to load the bases. Pinch hitter Charlie Culberson popped up to end the game, sealing Conley's first save of the season.

The Braves left 14 batters on base and were 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Wright worked six solid innings, giving up two runs, solo homers by Alfaro and Peter O'Brien, both in the fifth inning. He allowed five hits and one walk while striking out four.

Miami starter Sandy Alcantara worked four innings and allowed two runs on four hits and five walks.

The Braves got a run in the first inning when Freddie Freeman struck his fourth double of the season to drive home Ender Inciarte.

Atlanta went ahead 2-0 with another run in the fourth inning when Dansby Swanson singled home Johan Camargo. But the Braves lost veteran catcher Brian McCann to a right hamstring injury in the inning. He was hurt while sliding into third base to avoid a forecourt.

McCann's replacement behind the plate, Tyler Flowers, was hit by a pitch on his right wrist in the fifth inning but stayed in the game.
