Baltimore Orioles vs Detroit Tigers Box Score on Aug 01, 2021

Eric Haase drove in two runs and Detroit's pitchers held Baltimore scoreless in the last eight innings as the Tigers defeated the Orioles 6-2 on Sunday.

Jeimer Candelario had two hits, a run scored and an RBI, while Robbie Grossman tripled, scored twice and knocked in a run.

Miguel Cabrera walked twice, scored a run and knocked in another as the teams split the four-game series.

Erasmo Ramirez (1-0) tossed two innings of hitless relief to notch the victory. Jose Cisnero, Michael Fulmer and Gregory Soto combined to give up one hit in the last three innings. Detroit starter Tyler Alexander lasted four innings, allowing two runs on four hits.

Baltimore starter Spenser Watkins (2-2) allowed four runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. Ryan Mountcastle led the offense with two hits, a run scored and an RBI. The last five batters in the lineup went a combined 0-for-16.

The Orioles jumped on Alexander in the first inning, ripping three doubles to take a 2-0 lead. Hays led off the game with a double to left. Mountcastle and Anthony Santander smacked the next two extra-base hits to center with one out to produce the runs.

The Tigers responded with three two-out runs in the bottom of the inning.

Grossman and Cabrera drew walks and Candelario knocked in Grossman with a single off first baseman Trey Mancini's glove. Haase followed with a double to deep center, bringing home Cabrera and Candelario.

The Tigers didn't get another hit under Grossman's triple with one out in the sixth. Grossman scored on Cabrera's sacrifice fly to give Detroit a 4-2 advantage.

Detroit tacked on two runs in the seventh. Harold Castro led off with a double and moved to third on Grayson Greiner's single. One out later, Akil Baddoo slapped a single to left to score Castro. Jonathan Schoop's single loaded the bases for Grossman, who scored Greiner with a sacrifice fly. Detroit had a chance to score more with the bases loaded, but Candelario fouled out.
