BOSTON -- Andrew Benintendi ripped a long run-scoring single with one out in the 12th inning to give the Boston Red Sox a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies and a sweep of the home half of the four straight games between the teams Tuesday night.
It was the second straight walk-off win for the Red Sox (36-28) over the Phillies -- Boston's second and third walk-offs of the season -- and sent Philadelphia (21-42) to its seventh straight loss -- its 28th defeat in 37 road games.
With one out in the 12th, Xander Bogaerts, who had three hits, was walked by reliever Luis Garcia (1-1). Mitch Moreland, who hit a solo home run in the second inning, singled high off the Green Monster that sent Bogaerts to third.
Benintendi, who earlier had a double and a walk and also threw a potential winning run out at the plate, lined his game-winning hit deep into the right-field corner.
Fernando Abad (2-0) worked the final two innings for the win.
The time of game was 4:26, which, according to Red Sox Stats on Twitter makes the Red Sox the fourth team to play three straight four-hour games.
Benintendi cut Howie Kendrick down at the plate in the eighth inning, a frame that ended when Blaine Boyer struck Freddy Galvis out with the bases loaded.
David Price, making his first home start since last week's media blowup, worked the first six innings for Boston, surrendering the tying run in the sixth. He threw only six pitches in the first inning but needed 97 over the next five.
Phillies starter Ben Lively gave up single runs in each of the first three innings but held the fort from that point. It was his third major league start and he has gone seven innings in each outing.
Maikel Franco went 4-for-5 with a walk for the Phillies, lining two late-inning balls off the Green Monster -- home runs in any other park. He is 7-for-13 in the last three games and had reached base seven straight times before rapping into a hard double-play in the 12th.
The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead on a bases-loaded walk to Benintendi in the first.
Boston made it 2-0 in the second on doubles by Jackie Bradley Jr. and Christian Vazquez.
Aaron Altherr tied the game in the third with a two-run homer, but Moreland came right back to un-tie it with a solo homer in the bottom half.
