My analysis
Colombia have not won a Copa America title since 2001, the year they last hosted the tournament, but they have finished third in two of the last three editions. The Colombians will have their sights set even higher this time around as they come into Copa America on an incredible 23-match unbeaten streak, which includes recent wins over the United States, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil.
A surging Colombian attack that’s averaged three goals per game over its last five matches will be led by Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, midfield maestro James Rodriguez, and River Plate striker
Miguel Borja, who notched 22 goals in 25 club appearances in 2024.
However, Paraguay could be a surprisingly tough shell to crack. Colombia eked out a 1-0 win against Paraguay in an international friendly back on November 21, 2023 – one of only three times in Colombia’s last eight games in which they were held to a single goal.
The Paraguayans have surrendered just six total goals across their last 10 matches going back to last June, recording six clean sheets in the process. On the flip side, they’ve also tallied just four goals over that span — and one in their last five matches — so I don’t expect much in terms of goal-scoring at either end of the pitch.

Along with Under 2.5 goals between the teams, I’m expecting Paraguay to have another lacklustre offensive performance, as they’ve scored just once in their last five matches. As the +490 dog, Paraguay’s best chances will be to lock down defensively and make this one a trudge for a more skilled Colombian side.
Colombia has averaged 11.6 total shots and six shots on target in international friendlies this year. They should dominate possession against Paraguay and hit the Over on 5.5 shots on target with ease.
