AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Picks, Live Odds, and Field: Tracking the Action at Pebble Beach

It's been six years since Rory McIlroy played the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am but he's returning in 2024 in excellent form after winning in Dubai two weeks ago. We break down the favorites, the field, and more in our full breakdown below.

A string of unlikely winners has carried the PGA Tour through the early stages of the 2024 season, with the West Coast Swing now heading north to the iconic Pebble Beach.

The fields here at Pebble Beach have been slim in recent years, but that won't be the case this time around with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am given "designated event" status for 2024.

Topped by Rory McIlroy fresh off a win in Dubai, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf odds board is jam-packed with your favorite stars. I break it all down below, with free golf picks to come later in the week.

Note: The fourth, and final, round was postponed to Monday due to inclement weather.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am picks and predictions

Justin Thomas Top 20 (-105)

It’s safe to say a season of subpar golf is finally behind Justin Thomas.

The two-time PGA Champion missed five of seven cuts between the start of June and end the of July but has finished worse than fifth just once (T12) in his five starts since then and that includes a T3 at the Amex last time out.

Considering he’s gained 16 true strokes on approach over his last four starts, his iron play is back to being the strength it once was. Add in putting and scrambling numbers that have been as good as ever over this recent stretch and it’s clear a huge bounceback year is in store.

This field is certainly a step up and the odds are hesitant to include him amongst the true contenders (25/1 outright) but I’ll happily snag this Top 20 at near even money.

Pick: Justin Thomas Top 20 (-105 at Caesars)

Jordan Spieth over Patrick Cantlay (+100)

Unlike many of the favorites, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay are both well-versed here at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill.

The results? Spieth has a 2017 victory among six Top-10 finishes to his name in 11 career tries while Cantlay has placed 11th or better four times in six tries. Both bring excellent resumes to the table.

The difference this time around comes via recent form. Spieth has made just two starts since the end of last summer, but they’ve been good ones: a sixth-place finish at the Hero World and a third-place finish at Kapalua.

Meanwhile, Cantlay finds himself in a bit of a mini-slump after finishing T52 at the Amex and T56 at the Farmers, both of which saw him lose strokes on approach and with his putter. This will also be his third straight start, which is an afterthought most weeks but could be a real factor in the coastal conditions.

And despite Cantlay's quality finishes here, Spieth is still 3-1-1 straight up when they’ve played together. I expect him to add to that mark this week.

Pick: Jordan Spieth over Patrick Cantlay (+100 at Bet99)

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am field and favorites

This will be Rory McIlroy's first start on the PGA Tour since the TOUR Championship back in August and his first start here at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am since 2018. He missed the cut then but did finish T9 when the U.S. Open came to Pebble in 2019.

As his +750 odds suggest, the form remains strong. He went on a T3-4-4 run during the FedEx Cup Playoffs last summer, then capped off a five-event stretch overseas with his fourth victory at the Dubai Desert Classic.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is running second on the board at +800 in his Pebble Beach debut. He's just two months removed from his most recent win at the Hero World Challenge in December and has gone T5 (Kapalua) and T17 (American Express) in his two starts since then.

Viktor Hovland (+1,200) is gearing up for his second start of the 2024 season after finishing T22 at Kapalua. He was the hottest golfer alive to close the 2023 season, with back-to-back wins at the BMW and TOUR Championship before helping Team Europe dominate the Americans at the Ryder Cup.

Xander Schauffle and Jordan Spieth round out the Top 5 at 14/1 and 16/1 apiece, with Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas highlighting the next group in the 20/1 range.

Considering he's well out of form, defending champion Justin Rose is on the board at 66/1.
