Tonight's action starts with Game 3 between the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins at TD Garden, and the nightcap features the Edmonton Oilers looking to even their series with a road win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Even with it still early in Round 2, these are both huge games in the NHL odds. Boston will look to prove its Game 1 win wasn’t just a Florida hiccup, while Vancouver can take a commanding 2-0 series lead with another home win over Edmonton.

Here are our NHL player props and NHL picks for Friday, May 10.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Calling on Carter

Game 2 saw the Florida Panthers return to a second line of Anton Lundell, Matthew Tkachuk, and Carter Verhaeghe against the Boston Bruins, and the Panthers trio put on a clinic. They entered the contest with a 55.4 Corsi For percentage across 33:49 of five-on-five time during the playoffs and won the possession battle in Game 2 with a 93.3 CF% and 80.0% shot share at 5-on-5.

Verhaeghe is up to a team-high 57 attempts and ranks second with 29 shots through seven postseason games, and he ranked first in attempts (21.98) and second in shots (10.81) per 60 minutes during the regular season. Additionally, Verhaeghe's shots (13.47) and attempts (35.9) with the man advantage are up from his respective 12.17 and 26.05 regular-season marks, as he is becoming more of a primary shooter on the power play.

Carter Verhaeghe prop: Over 3.5 shots (+110 at BET99)

Prop bet #2: No bounce back from Boston

Goals haven’t always been easy to come by for the Bruins this postseason. They only scored once on 15 shots and nine high-danger scoring chances in Game 2 against the Panthers, while generating a pedestrian 1.77 expected goals.

The Bruins have failed to score more than two goals in four of their past five playoff games, and the Panthers boast the fewest goals against (1.78) and fourth-fewest expected goals against (2.34) per 60 minutes while on the road. Florida also posted a fourth-ranked 53.1 CF% at five-on-five on the highway, and it's gone a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill in this series.

Limiting the Florida attack will be a key to success for Boston, and an added emphasis on attention to defensive detail will limit the quality of offensive opportunities for the Bruins.

Boston Bruins prop: Under 2.5 goals (+100 at BET99)

Prop bet #3: When they go low, we go Hyman

Edmonton Oilers winger Zach Hyman has four or more shots in four of six postseason games, and he recorded four on six attempts in Game 1 against the Vancouver Canucks.

Hyman and superstar center Connor McDavid clicked for a 61.0 CF% and 60.9% shot share at 5-on-5 during the regular season, and I’m expecting the duo to log huge minutes in Game 2 and tilt the ice in their favor. The 54-goal scorer also paced the Oilers in shots (290) and attempts (489) during the regular season.

While it’s difficult to quantify how the long layoff between Round 1 and Round 2 impacted the Oilers, Edmonton was far from its best Wednesday. I expect the Oilers to test inexperienced goalie Arturs Silovs early and often again tonight, with Hyman being at the forefront of scoring chances.

Zach Hyman prop: Over 3.5 shots (+105 at BET99)
