Week 2 proved to be another week of wild college football, with more upsets than you can shake a stick at.
As we head into Week 3, I'm going to take a gander at three key matchups and see where the college football odds opened up, where they stand now, and all the other factors that go into making a good college football bet. Because believe me, there's a lot.
Featured college football Week 3 odds
BYU vs Oregon
With BYU joining the Big 12 next year, the Cougars lived up to the challenge by taking care of the Baylor Bears as 3-point favorites. The season doesn't get any easier this week when BYU travels to take on No. 25 Oregon, with the Ducks sitting as 3.5 faves. The total also opened up at 56.5 and can be found around 57.5 or 58 as of this writing.
Miami vs Texas A&M
This is another tilt between two ranked teams, with Miami at No. 16 and Texas A&M at No. 24. After the Aggies were upset by the Mountaineers in Week 2, this will be a big matchup to prove that was a fluke. However, that will be tough to do against a Miami offense led by Tyler Van Dyke, who has completed over 70% of his passes thus far.
Penn State vs Auburn
After breaking into the AP Top 25, Penn State will travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers as 3-point faves. This should prove to be an entertaining matchup between a Big Ten and SEC school, and the current line is set anywhere between 47.5 to 48. This one will be fun.

College football Week 3 news
Wolverines keep claws sharp
Not many schools have looked more impressive than Michigan when you look at the scores, but the team is just 1-1 against the spread due to the extremely high spreads the Wolverines have been tasked with covering. The -30.5 line in Week 1 was no hassle, but they fell short of the 52.5 number in the 56-10 slapping last week. With Michigan staring at a line hovering around 47.5 against UConn, does it have enough firepower to cover?
Roll tide rolls back
I'll just come out and say it, Alabama looked STINKY last weekend against Texas in a 20-19 squeak-out victory. The Crimson Tide are fed a much easier opponent this week in UL Monroe, but is 49.5 too many points for a team that had to win in the final minutes last week? Alabama by name will always get recognition, but bettors may soon find out this team ain't all that.
Road dog by surprise
Oddly enough, No. 11 Michigan State finds itself as an underdog against unranked Washington on Saturday. Although not ranked, the Huskies are 2-0 on the season and look more than capable of pulling off the cover at home. Indiana transfer Michael Penix Jr. has looked like a stud thus far in Washington, and he'll have to keep up the tremendous play to keep the good times going.
College football Week 3 injuries
California vs Notre Dame
Talk about putting salt on the wound. After losing to Marshall on Saturday, Notre Dame then lost its quarterback Tyler Buchner to injury for the remainder of the season.

Head Coach Marcus Freeman is expecting the recovery process to take four months, which would put Buchner out for the remainder of the season. https://t.co/fFoV4OYe3q
Drew Pyne will be called upon to take the shots moving forward, but it will be interesting to see if he's up to the task. Either way, from the bottom of my heart, I am sorry for your pain Fighting Irish fans.
Miami vs Texas A&M
Although Van Dyke has been undeniably amazing, he'll have to do it again with a little less help against the Aggies.
BREAKING: Miami Hurricanes star receiver Xavier Restrepo out indefinitely with foot injury https://t.co/xLTcbtHD0g @CanesFootball @AggieFootball #Canes
— Susan Miller Degnan (@smillerdegnan) September 15, 2022
Restrepo has been spectacular so far for the Hurricanes this season, including a 100-yard performance in the season opener back on September 3. This isn't to say the Hurricanes will totally struggle without him in the lineup, but just keep that in mind when approaching this game.

College football Week 3 weather
Weatherman LaRusic reporting for duty. For our first game, we'll be traveling to the birthplace of Phil Knight. Pack your sweaters in Oregon because it's going to be a cloudy day hovering around 65, but winds shouldn't play too much of a factor here. Rain, rain, stay away, come again another day.
Heading over to Texas A&M, 102,000 screaming Aggies fans will be delighted to know they'll have nothing but clear skies Saturday night, with those bright lights beaming down on their prized program.
And lastly, we'll send it over to Auburn where the Tigers will play host to the Nittany Lions. Wear that sunscreen folks, we're expecting sunny skies for this afternoon affair, with minimal wind.
Overall, the majority of games will be played under the sun or overcast, with only a few schools having to worry about getting wet. Thankfully, football players aren't made of sugar so they'll be able to get by. Just make sure to use our weather tracker below to catch all the latest news surrounding those patterns. Until next time, weatherman LaRusic, signing out.
