LSU vs Texas A&M Odds, Picks and Predictions: Aggies' Season Ends in Blowout Fashion

The Aggies have won of the worst run defenses in the nation and have nothing left to play for in what was another forgettable season for Jimbo Fisher. As such, our college football picks aren't expecting them to put up much of a fight against No. 6 LSU.

LSU has impressively turned around its program with the help of new head coach Brian Kelly and a handful of standout Tiger stars.

With just one regular-season contest left on the slate before a conference championship bout with Georgia, Jayden Daniels & Co. will look to put an end to another ugly Texas A&M campaign.

I break down the matchup, spread, and total in my college football picks and predictions for LSU vs. Texas A&M below.

LSU vs Texas A&M picks and predictions

The season's end couldn't come sooner for the Texas A&M Aggies, who have all but checked out of another disappointing season.

Last week saw them up just 10-3 at halftime over Massachusets (1-10), a game in which Jimbo Fisher's squad was favored by 33 points. The offense mustered up just 20 points in that contest — par for the course for the Aggies' 108th-ranked scoring offense at around 20 points per contest.

And while the Aggies bottom out at the end of an ugly season, they're now tasked with the best team they've played all year long. Behind the dominant play of freshman Harold Perkins Jr., this is a stout Tigers defense that's allowed just 20 points over its last two games.

This Jayden Daniels-led offense has subsequently found a rhythm, averaging north of 35 points across its last five and exceeding 500 total yards in three of those contests. The Aggies defense has been the best part of this team but even it allowed 30+ points to almost every above-average offenses it faced: 41 to Florida, 31 to Mississippi, 42 to Mississippi State, but holding Alabama to 24.

LSU is at or above the level of those four offenses and I have almost no faith in A&M's ability to keep pace once the Tigers start to break loose.

Some may be wary of backing the Tigers as they potentially look ahead to the SEC title game next week, but still with an outside shot at the College Football Playoff, I expect them to be sharp Saturday night. I'm laying the points.

My best bet: LSU -9.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

LSU vs Texas A&M spread analysis

What looked like might be another tumultuous season turned into a rather impressive one for Brian Kelly in Baton Rouge.

At 9-2 SU (7-4 ATS) with its biggest win coming at home vs. Alabama, the Tigers have secured their spot in the SEC title game — with this Week 13 date with Texas A&M standing between them and the No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

The same certainly can't be said for Jimbo Fisher, who hasn't been able to bring yet another talented Aggies team back to SEC contention. They are 4-7 on the season (3-7-1 ATS, 1-4-1 at home) and just 1-6 SU in SEC play (!), with an offense scoring just 20 points per game (108th).

As such, it's no surprise that college football odds have the Tigers slated as 9.5-point favorites on the road. With advantages all across the field and much more to play for at this juncture of the season, you either lay the points with LSU or simply stay away.

LSU vs Texas A&M Over/Under analysis

These two quality defenses are giving bettors a measly 47.5-point total, the lowest number LSU has seen since Week 5.

While I expect LSU to have its way on offense, much of that should come on the ground. The Aggies have one of the worst run defenses in the entire nation and could get run all over by LSU's plethora of backfield options in addition to QB Jayden Daniels, the team's leading rusher.

The clock should stay running for much of LSU's time with the ball and I have almost no faith A&M will be able to contribute in a real way. With a combined Under record of 13-9, that's the direction I'd lean again here.
