On top of Bryson DeChambeau claiming his second U.S. Open trophy over the weekend, he was also the second LIV Golf member to win a major after Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship at Oak Hill last year.

With that epic Sunday round in the rearview, Bryson is returning for LIV Golf Nashville, where he sits alone atop the golf odds board.

The Grove course notes

The Grove is a Par-71, 7,297-yard track designed by Greg Norman that features TifEagle Bermuda greens and Zorro Zoysia fairways. This weekend marks the first time The Grove will host a LIV event.

While The Grove has never been played on professionally, it has hosted Korn Ferry Tour events as well as USGA and NCAA tournaments. While the track attempts to tout itself as a “major championship-level venue”, it's relatively easy to score on (for guys of this caliber). It will benefit aggressive players who can rack up birdies.

LIV Golf Nashville picks and predictions

Joaquin Niemann to win outright (+850)

You can’t talk about birdie-heavy golfers on LIV without talking about Joaquin Niemann, who ranks first on this circuit in birdie average. Yes, he outranks Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Cam Smith, and Bryson DeChambeau in this key category — that's how well he's been striking the ball this season.

Speaking of DeChambeau, he's the only golfer with lower odds to win this event than Niemann. I'm targeting Niemann instead of DeChambeau because if there was ever a letdown spot, it would be five days following his epic win at Pinehurst.

I also want to buy low on Niemann following his T32 finish in Houston. That was the worst performance of his season and I think he'll return to form this week, especially with the added chip on his shoulder of not being able to compete at the U.S. Open.

Pick: Joaquin Niemann to win outright (+850 at DraftKings)

Talor Gooch to win outright (+1,200)

After lifting three different trophies on LIV in 2023, Talor Gooch has yet to return to the Winner’s Circle in 2024. I think that changes sooner rather than later.

While he’s not quite on the same level as the golfers I mentioned above, Gooch is still one of LIV’s premier players. He has finished inside the Top 10 in four of his past seven LIV events, and it’s only a matter of time before he kicks that door down.

The Grove should present a good opportunity for him to do just that considering he ranks seventh on LIV in birdie average this season.

Pick: Talor Gooch to win outright (+1,200 at DraftKings)

Abraham Ancer to win outright (+1,800)

I feel as though Abraham Ancer has never gotten the respect he deserves since joining LIV. He was a solid prospect on Tour who put together multiple wins before jumping ship. He also has multiple LIV titles.

He won in Hong Kong a few months ago and has followed that up with three additional Top-10 finishes over the previous four tournaments. He's a tremendously accurate ball striker who can rack up birdies with the best of them considering he ranks fourth in birdie average.

An 18/1 return is where the talent pool starts to transition from featuring some of the world’s best golfers to mid-tier LIV guys and I think Ancer is closer to those top guys than the middle of the pack.

Pick: Abraham Ancer to win outright (+1,800 at DraftKings)

LIV Golf Nashville field and favorites

It was a major championship Sunday for the ages that saw Bryson DeChambeau claim his second major championship victory, a result that came thanks to some critical back-nine up-and-downs and some help from Rory McIlroy down the stretch.

That win has Bryson atop the board in Nashville, fetching odds in the +700 to +750 range.

Joaquin Niemann is running second on the board despite stumbling in Houston with a T32 finish that came after a T39 at the PGA Championship. Before that, he ripped off five straight Top-10 finishes on the LIV tour, including a win in Jeddah. He can be had at 10/1 at bet365.

In the No. 3 spot is Jon Rahm, who's trending down after withdrawing from the Houston event as well as the U.S. Open last week with a toe injury. He's on the board at 10/1 but should be avoided until we see him healthy and/or back in form.

Tyrrell Hatton and Talor Gooch round out the Top 5 in Nashville at 12/1 apiece. Hatton finished T18 in Houston before a T26 at Pinehurst over the weekend, while Gooch finished T15 in Houston last time out.
