The Cleveland Indians' offense vented two days' worth of frustration Sunday afternoon, bombing the Oakland Athletics' pitching staff for 15 runs and 20 hits in a sweep-preventing, 15-3 victory in Oakland, Calif., that snapped the Athletics' six-game winning streak.

After being held to a total of three runs in narrow losses during the first two games of the series, the Indians got home runs from Francisco Lindor and Edwin Encarnacion in the seventh inning before blowing the game open with an eight-run eighth in which the first 10 batters reached base safely.

In the eighth, Michael Brantley had a two-run single and Lonnie Chisenhall two hits, including a two-run double. The Indians tagged Oakland relievers Chris Hatcher and Josh Lucas for seven hits in the frame while also collecting two walks and a hit baseman.

The solo homers by Lindor, his 21st, and Encarnacion, his 20th, helped the Indians take a 5-1 lead in the top of the seventh.

The A's rallied in the last of the inning, with Jonathan Lucroy's RBI single getting Oakland within 5-2 and bringing the potential tying run to the plate with still nobody out.

However, Cleveland relievers Marc Rzepczynski, making his first appearance for the Indians after being claimed off waivers earlier in the week, and Neil Ramirez limited the damage to one additional run in the inning, retaining a 5-3 lead and setting the stage for the game-breaking eighth.

Mike Clevinger (7-3) beat Oakland for the first time in his career, allowing three runs and eight hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out five.

Frankie Montas (4-2) took the loss after allowing Cleveland's first three runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Lindor collected two doubles and a homer, drove in two runs and scored four for the Indians, who won for just the second time in six tries on a nine-game trip.

Yonder Alonso (four hits), Jose Ramirez (three hits) and Chisenhall (three hits) also doubled twice for the Indians, whose 20 hits included two homers and 11 doubles.

Alonso drove in three runs, while Brantley, Ramirez, Encarnacion and Chisenhall chipped in with two RBIs apiece for Cleveland, which had lost nine of its previous 10 games in Oakland dating back to 2016.

Khris Davis had a double and a single, while Marcus Semien and Matt Joyce added two singles apiece for the A's, who fell to 2-1 on a five-game homestand.

The A's had allowed just five runs total in their previous four games.
