Group B is where you'll find the defending Euro champions Italy, but with plenty of turnover and a new coach in charge, the Euro 2024 odds are not in the Azzurri's favor.

In a group with Spain, Croatia, and Albania, the Italians will do well to escape the group, but defending their crown does not appear to be in the cards. Spain will be the team to watch as they are priced among the favorites to lift the trophy.

Euro 2024 Group B odds to advance

Given where Spain sits in the Outright market, their -2,000 odds to advance should come as no surprise. Italy should do enough to advance, while Croatia may be the odd one out despite the tournament allowing the four best third-place teams to advance.

Italy Italy -714 +200

Euro 2024 Group B best bet

Total Group Goals — Under 15.5 (-120 at Betano)

There's no denying a shift in soccer tactics over the last five or so years, with more and more teams committing to an attacking style of play. While that may hold true in domestic leagues and longer-form tournaments like the Champions League, major International tournaments are a different beast. Teams know they get three games to secure at least four, if not six points to get through to the knockout round. Because of that, and despite an abundance of attacking talent in Group B, I believe this will be one of the lower-scoring groups in the tournament.

Spain, Italy, and Croatia are all capable of holding onto possession, bleeding the clock, and defending with the best of them. They gave up a combined 18 goals in 24 qualifying matches. What about Albania you ask? Well, they topped their qualifying group over Czechia and Poland while conceding just four goals in eight matches.

This group will be tightly contested, and I don't expect there to be a barrage of goals in any one game. Take the Under.

Euro 2024 Group B team previews

Spain (-122 to win group)

After winning three straight major International tournaments between 2008 and 2012, two of which were Euro Cups, Spain suffered a bit of a lull before reaching the semifinals in Euro 2020.

This year's roster is littered with young talent including the likes of Pedri, Rodri, and Yamal to go along with ever-presents like Alvaro Morata and Ferran Torres. Going forward, there should be no issues, having scored 25 goals in eight qualifiers.

Spain will be a tough out for anyone late in the tournament.

Italy (+200 to win group)

The defending champions are a team with a lot more questions than answers. Sure, they return a handful of the team that tasted glory four years ago at Wembley, but much of the roster is unproven. They also have a new coach in Luciano Spalletti who has fit in quite nicely in his short tenure as manager.

Given the uncertainties, Italy is priced at 14/1 to defend their crown, and a qualifying campaign that saw them sneak into the tournament on goal differential won't lift confidence levels. However, if there's one thing the Italians are good at, it's rallying around each other and silencing the doubters. Write them off at your own peril.

Croatia (+440 to win group)

Croatia are often the bridesmaid, never the bride. They have had good showings in the last two World Cups, finishing as runner-up and third, but they were bounced in the Round of 16 in Euro 2020.

This year's roster is a far cry from those excellent and deep World Cup rosters. A good tactician in Zlatko Dalic can only take them so far, but limited threats up front with Pasalic and Kramaric leading the lines will be their downfall.

Albania (+3,400 to win group)

Albania are outsiders in this group and rightfully so. While they did top their qualifying group with 15 points and conceded just four goals, they did get to play the likes of Moldova and the Faroe Islands. When the competition level gets ratcheted up, Albania's defense likely won't know what hit them. For that reason, I'm taking Albania to finish last.

Euro 2024 Group B players to watch

Rodri (Spain/Man City)

Rodri is Spain's most important player and everything that runs through the midfield, runs through Rodri. He was dominant this year for Manchester City in their EPL Title-winning season, and for Spain, Rodri has a great track record of success.

He can win balls back anywhere on the pitch and he can spray passes like a prime Andrea Pirlo. He's also not afraid to take shots on from distance and his eight goals for Man City are a career-high. As Rodri goes, so will Spain.

Rodri — UEFA Player of the Tournament (+3,400 at Betano)

Lamine Yamal (Spain/Barcelona)

It's not every day a 16-year-old breaks into the Barcelona starting XI, but Lamine Yamal is a special talent and one that can be a matchwinner on his day.

Blessed with speed and incredible on-ball skills, Yamal can take on defenders one-on-one, or get in behind for potential opportunities.

Yamal — UEFA Young Player of the Tournament (+900 at Betano)

Gianluca Scamacca (Italy/Atalanta)

If Italy have any hope of progressing deep into this tournament, Scamacca will be the one leading the lines and scoring the goals.

At just 25, Scamacca had a great season for Atlanta, winning the Europa League while netting six times in that competition. He added another 12 goals in league play and he's a threat through the air on set pieces.
