This Saturday features another action-packed slate of Premier League games and it’s headlined by an interesting matchup at the Emirates between Arsenal and Brentford. It’s a game that, on paper, Arsenal should win, and they’re -417 favorites for a reason.

These teams are at very different ends of the Premier League. Brentford headed into this week ranked 15th in the Premier League and just six points off the drop. They’ve picked up just one point from the last 12 available and are probably fortunate that there are at least three teams in the league who are somehow worse, helping them avoid relegation.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are third in the Premier League and just two points from the top, with Man City and Liverpool one and two points ahead of them, respectively. It’s a three-team race for the title and it’s the Gunners who are the Premier League’s form team, winning their last seven.

Our best bet focuses on the Gunners and we’re backing Arsenal to score Over 2.5 goals. Arsenal continued their perfect start to the season with another win last Monday, dispatching a very poor Sheffield United team 6-0 on the road. An away win in the Premier League is always impressive, and even if Sheffield United are not good, going into halftime winning 5-0 is a great achievement regardless of opposition. 

The concern for the rest of the league is just how many goals Arsenal are scoring. The Gunners have scored four or more in each of their last four Premier League games, with two 6-0 wins, a 5-0 win, and a 4-1 win over a good Newcastle team. 

Arsenal have scored 31 goals in their seven Premier League games of 2024. Bukayo Saka leads their goalscoring charts as the only man in double figures with 13 but Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard all have six or more. 

Brentford have given up 19 goals in their past eight Premier League games, of which they’ve won just twice. Worryingly, they’ve given up four goals on two separate occasions in the past month, which will be a concern when they’re set to face the Premier League’s form team. 

It’s simply impossible to stop Arsenal from scoring, and against a Brentford team lacking confidence, missing their best defender in Ben Mee, and leaking goals, there’s no hope of that changing.

As well as our best bet, we’re also going to include Arsenal winning. Given I’m backing them to score three times, it’s not a shock that I’m also betting on them to win. Brentford have lost every game this season in which they’ve given up three or more goals and Arsenal are on an incredible run, winning every league game of 2024 so far. With their eyes set on the top of the Premier League, you can’t see them dropping points here.

To finish off, we’re also backing Bukayo Saka to score for the Gunners. The 22-year-old has put up impressive numbers with 13 goals in 26 Premier League games, all starts. Add in his eight assists and you can see just how impressive his season has been. With Brentford missing key defenders, both at the heart of the backline and at fullback, it’s just going to create spaces for Saka to take advantage.

Personally, I would never recommend betting on any team to win on the moneyline at odds like the -417 you can get on Arsenal but it’s impossible to see anything but three points for Mikel Arteta’s men. You can get the draw at +580 or an away win at +1,100, but I recommend sitting this market out for this game and trying to find an edge elsewhere.

For total goals, you can get Over 2.5 at -218 and Under 2.5 at a big +179. The Over has landed in 76.9% of Arsenal’s home games this season, including their last three. It’s also landing in 53.8% of Brentford’s trips on the road this season. The odds aren’t that appealing, however, and I suggest taking our best bet, which should succeed for the same reasons and offers far better odds.
