When you reach the quarterfinal stages of the Champions League, you know you’re guaranteed a big game, and we have a monster of a fixture on our hands with Bayern Munich traveling to North London to face Arsenal. Of course, you’ll be familiar that for two members of the Bayern team, Harry Kane and Eric Dier, North London is very familiar with both having spent many years at Spurs, a club hated by Arsenal and their fans. 

Both Arsenal and Bayern Munich are having very different domestic seasons with the Gunners wrapped in a three-team title race in the Premier League. That, after all, is surely the only reason why Bayern could not be winning the Bundesliga title this year. However, there are far bigger issues at Bayern Munich than Harry Kane. After all, this is a player who has 32 goals in 28 Bundesliga games and a further six already in the Champions League. He is a truly elite player and one who knows how to score against Arsenal very well. 

Kane’s record for the German club is better than one goal per game and even when they lose, such as this past weekend, you inevitably see his name on the scoresheet. He comes into this in great form, too, having scored seven goals and assisted a further two in his past five games. 

Arsenal have the best defensive team record in the Premier League with four clean sheets in a row across all competitions, but you can’t turn down odds of +190 on a striker like Kane. His movement around the box, his reading of the game, and his finishing are all truly elite. He’s a clinical player, in great form, who has been averaging 4.6 shots per game in the league this season and comes into this hungry to score against his fierce rivals. Watch out Arsenal fans.

It’s also part of the reason that, despite Kane scoring, I expect Arsenal to have enough about them to go on and win this game. They’re in great form in the Premier League and have a home crowd behind them, so should secure the win.

Arsenal really should win. Bayern have been terrible by their lofty standards this season, however, it feels a little too short at -130. This is still a team packed with quality players and I’d pass on backing Arsenal to win on the moneyline with Kane up front for Bayern. Much like I’d also pass on the draw at +300 or the away win at +340, there’s not enough value in either of those outcomes.

You can get -137 on Over 2.5 goals and +117 on the Under. It wouldn’t be a shock if Tuchel tried to keep Arsenal quiet in this first leg and then beat them on home soil in the second, but it’s one thing to have that strategy and another to implement it. Arsenal have seen Over 2.5 goals in 73.3% of their home games in the Premier League with Bayern hitting Over 2.5 goals in all but one Bundesliga game on the road this season.
