The Florida Swing continues with the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Club & Lodge and for the first time in what feels like forever, we've got a star-studded field on tap.

Scottie Scheffler returns to his place at the top of the golf odds board after two weeks off, but competition will be steep for the 2022 Bay Hill champ with Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Viktor Hovland all lingering.

We break down the field, the favorites, the course, and more in our full 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational betting preview below.

Arnold Palmer Invitational picks and predictions

Matt Fitzpatrick Top 20 (+105)

Matt Fitzpatrick’s stock is certainly not what it was coming out of his 2022 U.S. Open victory but he’s stabilized over the last six months and returns to a place of much success this week.

His Bay Hill resume includes Top-15 finishes in six of his last seven tries. Among those is a runner-up finish in 2019 and most recently a T14 last year where he ranked sixth off the tee and 11th from tee to green.

The 2024 form is hit and miss, with three Top 25s to go along with two missed cuts and a T58, but those three bad results came because of some of the worst putting weeks you’ll find from a top player.

I don’t fear that happening this week considering he gained stokes on the greens in all nine Bay Hill starts and even gained 5+ true shots putting in five of those. At a comfortable venue, the rest of the game will hold up and Fitz will be back in contention as a result.

Pick: Matt Fitzpatrick Top 20 (+105 at DraftKings)

Erik van Rooyen Top 30 (-105)

EVR has played Bay Hill twice in his career to the tune of a T57 in 2021 and a missed cut in 2022, but the level of play he’s displayed this year suggests a much better outcome this time around.

He logged a T8 in Mexico and a T2 at PGA National last week whilst leading the field in putting, both events that saw him have a real chance of winning with a solo lead at different points of both.

He also went T25 or better in three of five prior starts to start 2024, not to mention his win at the WWT back in November. He’s 25th in this field in true total strokes gained over the last three months as a result.

The lack of course history would normally turn me away, but I’m willing to look past it considering the excellent form he’s displayed in recent weeks.

Pick: Erik van Rooyen Top 30 (-105 at DraftKings)

Arnold Palmer Invitational field and favorites

Scottie Scheffler should take kindly to two weeks off after the Pebble-Phoenix-Riviera stretch but will be just as eager to get back on the course. The World No. 1 has logged Top-6 results in three of his five 2024 starts and hasn't finished worse than T17.

He's also had success here at Bay Hill, with a win in 2022 and a T4 a year ago to his name. He's atop the board with +650 odds as a result.

Running second on the board is Rory McIlroy (+850 to +1,000) after a T21 result at PGA National. He brings a plethora of API experience to the table, with a victory in 2018, a runner-up a season ago, and nothing worse than T13 in seven starts since 2017.

Viktor Hovland sits third on the board between 11/1 and 14/1. The form has been shaky by his standards after a scorching run to end 2023 which included wins at the BMW and TOUR Championship. He's gone T22-T58-T19 in three 2024 starts but did finish runner-up to Scheffler here in 2022.

Xander Schauffle and Patrick Cantlay round out the Top 5 in the 12/1 to 14/1 range. Cantlay finished T4 at Riviera last time out and also finished T4 in his API debut last season. Xander remains in great form but has logged just T24 and T39 results in two Bay Hill tries.

2023 champ Kurt Kitayama can be had as long as 80/1 after cashing 200/1 tickets a year ago.
