NHL Parlay & SGP Picks: Odds and Predictions for Tuesday's Playoff Games

The New York Rangers are better than the Washington Capitals in just about every way imaginable, and with the spread of -1.5 paying even money, it makes for a great leg to add to your NHL parlay for tonight's action.

Four Game 2s are taking place on tonight's NHL slate, and what better way to get involved in all the action than with some well-thought-out parlays?

I've crafted two I'm really happy with, but as you're about to find out in these NHL picks, "happy" isn't exactly what the Washington Capitals will be feeling once the New York Rangers are done with them.

And if you're looking for more action — I mean, it's the playoffs baby, so who isn't — then we also have a same-game parlay for each of the matchups on April 23!

NHL playoffs parlay picks April 23

  • Alexeyev 3+ blocked shots + Panthers ML + Hughes Over 0.5 assists (+712 at bet365)

  • MacKinnon Over 1.5 points + Rangers -1.5 + Reinhart Over 0.5 goals (+749 at bet365)

Best NHL parlay picks for Tuesday

NHL parlay pick 1

Alexander Alexeyev 3+ blocked shots

Panthers moneyline

Quinn Hughes Over 0.5 assists

Alexander Alexeyev has developed into a solid top-four defenseman for the Washington Capitals, eating up over 20 minutes per game in five straight. Something that's caught my eye, however, is how much he's put his body on the line when games matter most.

The former first-rounder has blocked three or more shots in three straight, including seven in the Caps' must-win game against the Flyers. This game is also a near must-win if Washington has any chance of pulling off the upset in the NHL playoff odds, and I expect Alexeyev to leave it all on the ice in Game 2.

The Florida Panthers looked like a team on a mission all year after losing to Vegas in the 2023 Cup Final, and they started off their run with a 3-2 win over state-rival Tampa Bay. A late goal from Steven Stamkos made that game appear closer than it was, as the Panthers were able to smother the Lightning for the first 59 minutes and held them to 19 shots for the game.

Expect Florida to get the job done again tonight.

Saying Quinn Hughes is good feels like an understatement at this point. He led the Vancouver Canucks in assists with 75, and his +38 rating was not only tops on his team but also the fourth-best mark in the league. His assists are what I'm focusing on, though, after he registered two of them in Game 1.

Hughes has been the QB for this offense all season, and with the Canucks scoring 3.51 goals per game at home, I expect more of the same tonight with the Vancouver D-man setting his team up for success.

NHL parlay pick 2

Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 assists

Rangers -1.5

Sam Reinhart Over 0.5 goals

When the Colorado Avalanche need Nathan MacKinnon, he often rises to the occasion. The MVP frontrunner put up two points in the 7-6 loss on Sunday, and with his team looking to avoid a 0-2 hole, I expect Nate to rise to the occasion. Ever since he was a rookie, MacKinnon has been dynamite in the playoffs, sitting with 102 postseason points in 78 games.

Although Hellebuyck is certain to see some positive regression after letting in six, I don't see him and the Winnipeg Jets being able to completely ice Colorado. Nate will get his chances, he just has to capitalize.

There may be three players on the Washington Capitals who can do something productive with the puck on their stick, and one of them is 38 years old. Washington has no ability to create any meaningful chances against the New York Rangers — look no further than the measly six high-danger chances it had in Game 1 — and that's not going to work against a world-class netminder like Igor Shesterkin.

Charlie Lindgren will do his best to keep things close, but what's the point of having good goaltending if you can't score?

Sam Reinhart has transformed into a scoring freak for the Florida Panthers, and he wasted no time in getting his postseason off to a good start in Game 1. Reinhart had five shots on goal, which put his shooting percentage on Sunday right below his regular season mark of 24.5%. No, you did not read that wrong. If he can continue to find his shots in opportune places, Reinhart will continue to bury them like he has all season long.

Today's NHL same-game parlay picks

Our betting experts have scoured through today's NHL odds to find your best SGP bets for each of the four Game 2s on Tuesday's playoff slate:

Capitals vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

bet365 Logo

Rangers -1.5

Alexis Lafreniere Over 0.5 points

Igor Shesterkin Over 23.5 saves

I’ve been impressed with Alexis Lafreniere's coming-of-age run. He’s up to 19 points across his past 18 games, and the 2020 first-overall pick has hit the scoresheet in 12 of those contests. With Washington's question marks on the blue line, I expect Lafreniere and linemates Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck to continue their strong play after clicking for a 58.2 CF% and 3.75 goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 during the regular season.

The third leg of this same-game parlay correlates and aligns with the highlighted elite play from Shesterkin. Washington only registered 21 shots in Game 1, but with an 0-2 deficit looming, look for the Caps to prioritize pucks on net and a higher saves total for the Russian tendy.

Finally, there is a small edge in the +475 bet365 odds compared to the +460 DraftKings price, with the difference checking out as a positive expected value of 3%.

Lightning vs Panthers same-game parlay (SGP)

Nikita Kucherov Over 1.5 points

Sam Reinhart Over 2.5 shots

Under 6.5

Coupled with the Over on 1.5 points for Kucherov, I’ll look for Sam Reinhart to continue his shoot-first mentality for the Panthers with Over 2.5 shots. Reinhart notched five shots in Game 1 and has recorded at least three shots on net in six straight contests and 10 of his last 11 outings.

Lastly, I’ll take the Under on an alternate line of 6.5 goals as these clubs tend to play low-scoring games. The Under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between the Floridian foes.

Avalanche vs Jets same-game parlay (SGP)

Jets moneyline

Kyle Connor to score

Jets team total Over 3.5

The Jets showed that even with low shooting volume they can score at will vs. Goergiev and this defense. There is no goaltending help on the Colorado bench and this is an Avs' PK that has given up 11 goals over its last six games. I doubt we'll see another shootout, but Winnipeg has the better chance at repeating Game 1's output.

Predators vs Canucks same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 5.5

J.T. Miller anytime goal

Filip Forsberg anytime goal

Someone from Vancouver’s top three goal-scorers surely will crack the scoresheet, it’s just a matter of who. The combination of Boeser, Pettersson and J.T. Miller have had at least a goal in nine of the last 11 games when all three were in the lineup.

An assist against Nashville kept Miller’s point streak alive, now at 12 games straight dating back to the regular season, so he’s the hottest hand and my pick on Tuesday. He was also the only one of that trio not to record a shot on goal, the first time that’s happened to Miller since January 24.

Filip Forsberg had an assist as well in Game 1, giving him points in 15 of his last 18 contests, a number that includes 15 goals. That was part of a career-best 48-goal campaign. If the Preds want to escape Vancouver tied at a game apiece, it’s highly likely Forsberg will need to perform at peak levels to give them a chance.
