Kraken vs Avalanche Game 5 Odds, Picks, and Predictions: Seattle Regains Series Lead

Momentum strongly favors the Kraken in their series with the Avalanche following a Game 4 overtime victory, and a one-game suspension handed to Cale Makar. Our NHL betting picks suggest the underdog is the right side here.

The Seattle Kraken have been one of the most impressive teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs thus far. They are coming off of a massive overtime victory on home ice, thanks to the heroics of Jordan Eberle.

The Colorado Avalanche have a tough challenge ahead. They will be playing Game 5 without their superstar defenseman, Cale Makar, who will be serving his one-game suspension.

Even though the scoreboard didn’t show it, the Kraken completely dominated the Avalanche in Game 4, and they are hoping to keep their foot on the gas to try and steal a win on the road in Game 5.

Kraken vs Avalanche Game 5 predictions

You have to give credit to what the Seattle Kraken have been able to do so far in this series.

Seattle has outshot Colorado in all four games of this series and to be honest, you can argue that they’ve been the better team. The Colorado Avalanche are certainly going to feel the absence of Cale Makar on the blueline and on the man advantage.

I wasn’t a fan of the Kraken’s goaltending in the regular season, but Philipp Grubauer has really turned his game up a notch here in the opening round of the playoffs.

Grubauer, the former member of the Avalanche, has been the better goalie between he and Alexandar Georgiev. Grubauer is currently skating to a .916 SV% and a 2.76 GAA, while Georgiev is at a .908 SV% along with a 2.99 GAA.

Special teams has been a non-factor essentially, as both teams are converting at below 20% on their power play. With that being said, I really think the Kraken have a chance to steal one on the road.

Makar is a massive loss to the Avs lineup, and Seattle needs to take advantage of this roster that isn’t fully healthy.

Kraken vs Avalanche Game 5 moneyline analysis

These two teams have had some very interesting trends in recent history. The underdog is 6-2 in the last eight meetings, and the road team is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams.

The Kraken’s overtime win in Game 4 could be the exact boost that this team needed to believe that they can overcome the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

Both of these teams have the exact same goals for and goals against average per game right now (3.00), so you have to look at the special teams and goaltending, which surprisingly favors the Kraken right now.

It’s a little hard to convince myself to side with the Avalanche if they are without Makar, Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin, who is questionable to play.

This is a great opportunity for the Kraken.

Kraken vs Avalanche Game 5 Over/Under analysis

Another trend between these two teams is the Under, which has hit more times than it has not when these two teams get together.

The Under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Colorado, and 7-1 in the last eight meetings between the two teams overall.

The Under also happens to be 4-0 in the Kraken’s last four road games, and 6-1 in their last seven overall.

For the Avalanche, the Under is 3-0-1 in their last four home games.

It’s pretty obvious on what side you should take in this matchup — the Under is the clear way to go, and I would be a fool to convince you otherwise.
