Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 4 Odds, Picks, and Predictions: Great Offensive Expectations in Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers came out and laid an egg in Game 3 on home ice, and they are now essentially in a must-win situation going into Game 4. The Vegas Golden Knights played a very sound and disciplined game, which was something they were trying to focus on with the success of the Oilers' power play. 

Now, Vegas needs to build off of that win and try to take both games in Edmonton. 

This series has been very back-and-forth, with a ton of goal-scoring and some subpar goaltending. I have a feeling that Game 4 will be a barnburner.

Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 4 predictions

One of the main talking points from Game 3 was the Vegas Golden Knights goaltender, Laurent Brossoit, going down with an injury in the first period. It isn’t clear yet who will be starting in net for Game 4 as of Tuesday afternoon. Adin Hill stepped in and played phenomenal, stopping all 24 shots that he faced. It is more than likely Hill will get the nod for Game 4, which would be his first career postseason start. 

The Edmonton Oilers have a strange goaltending situation going on as well. Stuart Skinner got yanked in Game 3 after allowing four goals against on 23 shots, skating to a .826 SV%. Jack Campbell came in and only allowed one goal, so we might see him again in Game 4. Campbell hasn’t gotten much ice time in this postseason thus far, and he is known to be inconsistent. 

This series has been incredibly entertaining through the first three games, but I expect Game 4 to be the closest contest yet. The Edmonton Oilers cannot risk going down 3-1 in this series with it heading back to Vegas for Game 5.

The Oilers and Golden Knights are the two best offensive teams in the playoffs. Edmonton is scoring 3.89 goals per game, while Vegas is right there with them, tallying 3.88 goals per game. 

The elevated total doesn’t scare me. I am going with the Over, and I love the plus money value on 7.

Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 4 moneyline analysis

As I said before, this is essentially a must-win for Edmonton. We saw how this team responded after losing in Game 1, now they will need to do the same exact thing that they did in Game 2. 

The Oilers have been able to bounce back every time they’ve needed to this postseason, and they have also been incredible on home ice as of late, going 11-3 in their last 14 home games. 

For the Oilers to get the edge in this tilt, they’re going to need to make the Golden Knights play undisciplined hockey. Vegas was excellent in Game 3, only taking two penalties in the entire game, not allowing this incredible man-advantage unit to give the team any momentum.

With that being said, this was the first time in the entire playoffs that Leon Draisaitl was held off the score sheet, and only the second game that Connor McDavid didn’t tally a point. I don’t see these guys being held pointless in back-to-back games on home ice. 

I think the Oilers will bounce back yet again, tying this series up at 2-2. 

Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 4 Over/Under analysis

When you think about the Oilers, the first thing that comes to mind is offense. What this team has done so far in the playoffs, especially on the man advantage, is something that we haven’t seen in the game before.

With that being said, the Golden Knights have been able to keep up with the talented Oilers group, if not outshine them. 

The big guns got it done for Vegas in Game 3. Jonathan Marchessault tallied two goals, and Jack Eichel added a goal while also grabbing two assists. 

McDavid and Draisaitl were quiet in Game 3, but I don’t expect the same output from them in Game 4. These are two of the top three scorers in the playoffs, as Conn Smythe odds favorite Draisaitl is leading all skaters with 17 points, while McDavid has 15 points. To that point, the Oilers' power play was held off the board after tallying five goals on nine attempts in the first two games. 

These offenses are simply too good to keep off the board, and with all of the question marks when it comes to goaltending, I don’t see them being shut down again in Edmonton.
