Super Bowl NFL Teasers: Chiefs Are Undervalued

A bonus teaser selection to help fill out your Super Bowl 58 betting card! This wasn't initially planned, but Joe Osborne likes a combo of one team against the spread with a bet on the total while teasing the lines to be just right.

Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, despite just one game remaining in the season, it is still very much teaser time with a spot that I love in the Super Bowl odds!

It wasn't in our plans to do a teaser article for the big game, but thankfully things align with both the spread and total where we can slap an extra six points on both to add an additional bet to our NFL picks on Super Bowl Sunday.

So, for the final time this season, I look through the NFL odds to present to you my favorite teaser spot of the week — let's go!

Super Bowl Teaser

Chiefs (+2 to +8) vs. 49ers

I think the wrong team is favored.

The Kansas City Chiefs have the better quarterback and the better big-game head coach. The defense is in much better form, plus it's their fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last five seasons. They're built for this and they're playing their best football of the season, looking nothing like the uninspiring version of the team we saw throughout the regular season.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers, have done a bit of a 180 from their dominant regular season as they've needed a lot of breaks to get by the Packers and Lions over the last two weeks. Those teams came into San Francisco and combined for almost 800 yards of offense. Still, neither could seal the deal thanks to poor play in the red zone, missed field goals, balls taking funny bounces, receivers dropping easy catches, untimely fumbles, and questionable play calling on fourth down! That's a long list of things to go wrong... or go right, if you're the 49ers!

All that considered — and the ability to take Kansas City through the key numbers of both three and seven — makes this an ideal teasing situation.

Under (47.5 to 53.5)

Do you know how many times the Chiefs have played in a game that went Over 53.5 this season? The answer is a big fat ZERO!

That's right, Kansas City has been an Under machine all season, as it's gone below the total in 14 of 20 games with those having an average combined score of just 38.9! Its defense has been lights out, holding the Ravens to 10 points and the Dolphins to seven.

While San Francisco's offense can put up a lot of points, a lot of its highest-scoring outputs of the season came against awful defenses. And while I like the Chiefs to be very competitive in this game and potentially win outright, I don't think it'll be easy for them to go up and down the field against a 49ers defense that ranks in the Top 8 in both yards per play and points allowed.

With both defenses being strong against the pass, and each offense preferring to take their time with the ball, I think a shootout is unlikely.
