Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels face off against Randy Arozarena and the Tampa Bay Rays in the rubber match of their three-game set at Tropicana Field on Wednesday.
The MLB odds have the Rays as slight home favorites as they hand the ball to Zack Littell, while the Angels counter with Reid Detmers. The first two games of this series have seen a lot of runs. Will it be more of the same, or can these starters put a stop to the scoring?
I break it all down in our latest MLB picks and Angels vs. Rays predictions.

My analysis
Reid Detmers is off to a fantastic start for the Los Angeles Angels. The Halos’ former top pitching prospect has allowed just two earned runs on eight hits while striking out 26 in 17 1/3 innings over his first three starts of the season.
However, I think this hot start from Detmers is just giving us some value when it comes to some Unders on his player props in today’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays.
While Detmers strikes out a lot of batters, more strikeouts means more pitches. And, as is the case with many young strikeout artists, he also has his issues with walks, ranking in the 42nd percentile when it comes to BB%.
The Rays have been solid when going against southpaws this season, as Tampa Bay ranks 15th in batting average and wRC+ and 14th in walk rate vs. left-handed pitchers. The Rays have also seen the 11th most pitches in the big leagues this year.
Detmers' style of pitching can rack up his pitch count quickly, and that is advantageous to Under bettors. On top of that, our Covers Prop Projections have Detmers at 16 outs for this matchup, which is a run and a half lower than the posted total.
At plus money, sign me up to fade the Angels southpaw.
Angels vs Rays same-game parlay (SGP)
Reid Detmers isn’t the only hot pitcher in this matchup, as Rays starter Zack Littell is also off to a fantastic start.
Littell has allowed just two earned runs on 15 hits over 15 1/3 innings pitched this season, boasting a .204 opponent-expected batting average. The right-hander will fare well against an Angels team that ranks 19th in OPS vs. right-handed pitching this season.
Meanwhile, Mike Trout looks like his former MVP self. The star outfielder is hitting .324 with a 1.189 OPS over his last nine games, along with seven extra-base hits and seven RBIs over that stretch. I’m taking Trout to drive in another one tonight for a big payout.
