So then in August our govt. and news media, almost one in the same IMO, had to admit breakthroughs were occurring. So, as an example from the Wall Street Journal, you would read these statements repeated on almost every news wire;
--"Health departments said that breakthrough cases represented a tiny fraction of Covid-19 infections and resulted in very few hospitalizations or deaths."
---“Let’s be real, here: Breakthrough infections are sort of OK,” said Larry Corey, a virologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. “You get infected and you have a cold, maybe an achy fever for 24 hours. But you don’t end up in the hospital, and you don’t end up with that 2.5% chance of dying once you are hospitalized.” --------It's OK!!!!! No, it's disappointing.
---"U.S. states counted at least 193,204 so-called breakthrough cases among vaccinated people between Jan. 1 and early August, according to data that health departments in 44 states and Washington, D.C., provided to the Journal. The figure represents 0.1% of the more than 136 million fully vaccinated people in those states and the capital." -------There's that Jan 1st again, bet that percentage has risen exponentially just since August 1. It's not being reported anymore. ![an_light](https://img.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_light.gif)
The truth is breakthroughs are common, hospitalizations rates range from 30-40% vaccinated, just like the UK and Israel reported in July, who would'a thought!! The CDC has stated the number of breakthroughs are most likely much higher than recorded as MANY vaccinated will not get tested because symptoms are mild. They still spread the virus!
The vaccine helps, NO DOUBT, it not "stopping" the spread nor will it ever. It is NO LONGER the pandemic of the unvaccinated since Delta arrived. Doubt some rebel anti-vaxer infected Colin Powell. All those vaccinated Texas Dem's fleeing Texas to Wash. DC and infecting the Whitehouse disproves that stupid narrow minded belief.
This virus can go from human to animal and back. We have to live with it, not going away, find treatments to limit the severity.
THAT's THE SCIENCE.
