Trump immediately lied and called it a “fake story” and said it was a “disgrace” that the free press was allowed to publish it.
John F. Kelly, Trump’s longest-serving White House chief of staff, confirmed the accuracy of that article, as well as that of a book by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser that also quoted Trump complaining that being in the presence of military amputees “doesn’t look good for me.”
@Sidehatch
Disgusting, disgraceful former commander-in-chief. To my knowledge, no previous president has ever said anything so despicable regarding our fallen.
Historians have also confirmed no previous president was such a lowlifeasshole to ever say such a thing. Except for Trump of course

It was a surprise when it was first reported but other comments since shed all kinds of light on the a-ho

The other one that comes to mind is telling a grieving widow, “Well, he knew what he was getting himself into.”
Outside of the military, he had a famous flub when visiting a neighborhood wrecked by a Cat 5 tornado. He starts by freelancing about how the storm picked up a young boy, flung him in the air, and how it was just amazing that the young boy survived. Then he starts to babble, mentions the parents - and suddenly remembers the parents died.
