Does anyone see a team getting swept in the first round? I know the possibility is there but who would it be? Florida sweeping the Caps? I think the Preds and Stars at least get one if not 2.

@GASportsDoc
Caps #1 road record by a large margin if I'm not mistaken
Preds ripe for a sweep if saros out.
Stars match flames style fairly well. They might be able to keep it a close series

@GASportsDoc
Bruins/canes should be one of the lower scoring series imo
Bruins/canes
Pens/rangers
Stars/flames
Those will be the 3 good under series imo

Pretty sure a lot of game 1s have gone under the last few years
Feel out game + maybe the most important game of series to jump out to a 1-0 lead
Not sure what is a good site to confirm those numbers.

Well, my first game play is already in. Tuesday night Florida tt over 3.5. Home, playoffs with that offense vs Vanecek.
What is "smelly" is that Blues line of +125. 9-0-1 and that big of a dog. People will be all over that Blues line so if you like the Wild, hold off as I think you will get them cheaper by game time. If you like the Blues, go ahead and jump.

Some nice little tidbits on NHL.com first round match-ups previews.
Matthews with 7 points in 4 games vs Bolts this year. Stamkos with 33 points in the month of April, the only player to best that was in Mario in 1995 with 34. Vas actually tied Bob for the most wins this year with 39. Toronto has played in 45 postseason games since their last series win.
Only Kreider and Zibanejad remain on a Rangers team that won a playoff game. Kreider scored 28 of his 52 goals at home. DeSmith started 5 of the Pens last 6 games going 3-2, 2.44 GA and .940% (tells you something about the Pens offense of late). The Rangers had 27 come from behind wins this year, second to only Florida at 29.
Mike Smith won 9 straight games in April. Since Woodcroft took over, the Oil are 26-9-3. Interesting that Woodcroft was an assistant under now Kings coach McLellan. Want to mention The Great One. McDavid just won his 4th scoring title. Hell, Wayne did it 10 times. The Kings were tied for 3rd in the league for wins when trailing after 2 periods with 7 wins.

I think the wild are a stacked team and will make a run . I put something small on them to win the division and make it to the show .

Hey Guys and Jules,
Speaking of the Wild vs Blues...Mats Zuccarello is still iffy for Game 1. Top line RW: 24G/55A 79 pts / 28 PPpts and a +21. If he can't go they move Tyson Jost (8G/1A and +1) from 4th line C to first line RW. Most definitely an impact player.
----------------------------------------------------
twincitiesdotcom: Mats Zuccarello missed the regular season finale against the rival Colorado Avalanche on Friday night at Xcel Energy Center as he continues to nurse a lower-body injury. He hasn’t played since the Wild earned a 6-3 win over the Seattle Kraken on April 22.
That said, it appears Zuccarello will still be available for the start of the NHL playoffs next week. Asked about Zuccarello’s status for the series opener against the St. Louis Blues, coach Dean Evason replied, “We’re still very optimistic that he’ll play in Game 1.”
Nonetheless, the Wild are clearly starting to make contingency plans just in case. They elevated Tyson Jost in the lineup for the regular season finale, playing him alongside Ryan Hartman and opposite Kirill Kaprizov. That would presumable be the top line if Zuccarello is not ready to go.

Blues own the Wild.
But Wild have made some changes and is the "getting owned by the Blues" about to change?
I like to take the team that's 1 win outta 10 for the 11th matchup sometimes if I feel we maybe have a 2 ships passing in the night scenario.
Streaks and trends last for as long as they last. I played Blues a lot this year and they had their peak and then started to lose a lot it seemed. Especially end of year. After landing the best nhl goalie ever MAF they went on a terrifically terrifying tear and ripped off 10 wins in a row.
So maybe they peaked and a ripe to get pummeled round one or maybe they have what it takes and break the jinx of the Blues starting this series.
Avs to sweep
Panthers to sweep
Flames to sweep
That's my 1st round sweep ideas. Follow or fade may the big money ?? in your favor.

I think you’re overlooking how much the general bettor starts playing the NHL playoffs. And the “playoff bettor” doesn’t usually dig super deep when betting this stuff. Wild have home ice, beat a couple very very good teams going into the playoffs. On the flip side, the Blues stumbled and faltered a bit going into the end.
And that’s the perception the line is based upon. I don’t believe perception matches the reality of the situation. The Wild obtained home ice because the Avs decided to play a hockey game vs the Blues and then took the last game of the season off. Same with the flames.
And let’s not forget, in the words of the late, great Lipps, home ice doesn’t mean squat. That said, I think the Wild should be favored because of it, slightly. But this line was set to make the general betting public feel better about betting on the Home Fave.
However, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Wild won the series. But I think Blues win it in 6. Special teams will prove to be the difference.

Fascinating the love for Kings. Since Feb 1, 36 games they have played 13 against playoff teams and won 4. GPG (20th), PP(27th), PK(22nd), GAA(9th). Their goal differential for year was +3. Oil won season series 3-1. So curious what do I not see?

Frederik Andersen has been ruled out for the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Boston Bruins on Monday.
Guess the red pencil crew is at work, even on weekends. At least i didn't type a chit-ton of characters only to have it deleted lol. It was cut/paste.
Cheers

I hate the Leafs, I mean I really hate the Leafs but I think they win at least 1st round. Really hope I am wrong.

I can see your point on home ice. It has its advantages. I just don't think it's worth THAT (-165) much. We'll see tho. I do like the chase idea. I grabbed the Blues to win the West and the cup early in the year when they were just playing like trash. Think they win this series. After that, who knows. Feels like the Avs are "destined"
I don't get all the love for the Kings. Oil might sweep em, wouldn't surprise me. Not to jinx your team lol, but taking them -1.5 all day

Hey Destroy long time Leaf fan here have had partial season tickets for years mainly just for my love of hockey so much. Just curious why you would say we don't deserve to win ever again?
Good Luck in the playoffs!

Hey, back from the course. What did I miss?
DTP. I do think special teams will play a BIG part in that Wild Blues match-up. I am not overlooking public opinion in that series but I can't overlook history as well. My personal opinion is I think it is a crying shame one of those are leaving early. If I had my way, Avs vs Preds, Wild vs Stars, Flames vs Kings and Blues vs Oil.
I think the Leafs winning just a series would be good for hockey. I have no hate for them except when they cost me money. Unfortunately, they are facing a beast of a team. Hell, the whole East is a beast. Just like above, I would have liked to have seen the Panthers vs Caps, Canes v Pens, Leafs vs B's and Tampa vs Rangers.
They talk of divisional rivalries as a reason for the playoff set-up, every team mentioned can be considered a rivalry in the playoffs. IF not, create new ones.

hahaha poor attempt at making a joke my bad. If any team is "due" it's you guys Still not a huge fan tho. But as far as Leafs fans go, you all are all right. Vegas fans, hands down THE WORST. Get handed a playoff team and then act like you are owed something. Fukk those guys

Not only handed a playoff team, then get to bypass the pillage and plunder of the most recent expansion.

I just texted Barb and JJ and CK and asked if they wanted to do a friendly wager to see who's team would go farther... no response yet
