Week 3 in the CFL features a rematch from last week as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats face off against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday.

Saskatchewan miraculously prevailed 33-30 in Hamilton last week and my Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders predictions expect another shootout between these squads.

Here are my best free CFL picks for June 23.

Tiger-Cats vs Roughriders prediction

My best bet
Over 50.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
I bet the Over 46.5 between these teams early last week, and despite the total moving up to 50.5, that game still easily eclipsed that closing number. These teams combined for 63 points and 770 passing yards, and another shootout seems likely on Sunday.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders' defense was historically bad to end last season, allowing 34.9 points per game in the final 10 contests of 2023. That brutal play has continued into this season, with the Riders giving up 336 passing yards to the Elks in their season opener before surrendering 380 passing yards to Bo Levi Mitchell last week.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats also rolled on offense in Week 1, and after two weeks, they lead the CFL in yards per game (434.5) and yards per play (8.05). That said, the Ticats have been vulnerable on defense and have surrendered the second-most yards per game (381) in the league. They were torched for 390 yards through the air by Trevor Harris last week, and Harris also threw for 305 yards and three scores in Week 1 against Edmonton.

Saskatchewan's offense struggled last year but that was largely due to a season-ending injury suffered by Harris in Week 6. With the veteran QB back under center and upgrades at WR, RB, and OL, this Riders' offense should put up points.

Tiger-Cats vs Roughriders same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 50.5

Bo Levi Mitchell Over 290.5 passing yards

Jerreth Sterns Over 4.5 receptions

With a poor secondary and a weak pass rush, the Riders have allowed a whopping 331.5 passing yards per game over their last 11 contests.

Mitchell has dealt with nagging injuries for the last several years but the former two-time MOP is healthy and looks like he's revitalized his career. He has thrown for more than 300 yards in each of his first two games and should be able to shred the Riders once again.

Saskatchewan has a crowded receiver room, but Sterns has separated himself as Harris' favorite target. He had seven catches on a team-high 10 targets in Week 1 before hauling in six catches on eight targets last week. Sterns' receptions total won't be this low much longer.
