Jack Eichel and Nicolas Roy each scored twice as the Vegas Golden Knights snapped a two-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Pavel Dorofeyev also scored for Vegas, which won for just the second time in its last eight games. Logan Thompson made 28 saves for the Golden Knights, who improved to 14-4-2 at home this season.

Mathew Barzal and Matt Martin scored for New York. Ilya Sorokin finished with 24 saves.

Vegas jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 6:25 mark of the first period when Eichel one-timed a Jonathan Marchessault pass from the edge of the right circle over Sorokin's right shoulder.

New York tied it midway through the period when Barzal, behind the right goal line, banked in a shot off the left arm of Thompson for Barzal's 11th goal. The puck, which caromed under the left crossbar, bounced out and play continued for over a minute before the next stoppage in play. The Situation Room in Toronto then reviewed the play and awarded Barzal the goal.

The Islanders had a pair of good scoring chances to regain the lead in the second period but came away empty. The first came on a clean breakaway by Kyle Palmieri, whose wrist shot was blocked by Thompson. The second came on a one-timer by Anders Lee that bounced off the far left post.

Vegas finished the period with two goals in 90 seconds. Dorofeyev got the first when he tipped in Chandler Stephenson's crossing pass inside the left post for Dorofeyev's fifth goal. Roy followed with a wrist shot from the left circle past Keegan Kolesar's screen to make it 3-1. The Islanders challenged for goalie interference on Kolesar but after a lengthy review, the goal was allowed to stand.

The Golden Knights then took advantage of the delay-of-game penalty on New York for losing the coaches' challenge when Eichel scored on a wrist shot from the middle of the right circle on the ensuing power play 31 seconds into the third period for his team-leading 18th goal.

The Islanders cut it to 4-2 when Martin put in a diving backhand rebound of a Casey Cizikas shot but Roy put Vegas back up three goals just 98 seconds later with a wrist shot from the left circle that trickled through Sorokin's pads.
