Cam York scored the lone goal to lift the host Philadelphia Flyers over the Detroit Red Wings 1-0 on Saturday.

The Flyers extended their points streak to eight, going 6-0-2 during that stretch.

Flyers goaltender Sam Ersson received the start once again since Carter Hart is still recovering from an illness. Hart was available as the backup. Ersson stopped all 33 shots for his second shutout of the season and third of his career.

Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon stopped 14 shots before leaving the game at 6:50 of the second period with an apparent ankle injury. Ville Husso made all 18 saves the rest of the way.

Travis Konecny nearly scored at 7:27 of the third period as the Flyers were short-handed. Husso did just enough to steer the puck out of the crease.

Shayne Gostisbehere ripped a slap shot at 12:43, but Ersson made the save.

Husso was pulled at 17:00 for an extra skater. The Red Wings had a flurry of chances in the final minute but couldn't score. Patrick Kane had two chances from point-blank range.

The Flyers went ahead 1-0 at 6:21 of the first period when York fired a shot from a tough angle which deflected off Detroit's J.T. Compher.

York nearly connected at 13:55 when he skated all the way in before Lyon was able to poke away the puck.

The Red Wings struggled to generate much offensive pressure and managed only seven shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes.

Jake Walman fired a slap shot on the power play at 5:29 of the second, but Ersson turned it away.

The Flyers soon were awarded a power play and Konecny had two solid scoring chances but couldn't convert.

Husso grabbed the puck in his glove off a nasty shot by Sean Couturier at 18:16.
