Kevin Hayes scored the tiebreaking third-period goal as the St. Louis Blues edged the Arizona Coyotes 6-5 on Wednesday in Tempe, Ariz.

Brayden Schenn, Colton Parayko, Nick Leddy, Alexey Toropchenko and Robert Thomas also scored for the Blues, who finished their four-game road trip with a 2-2-0 record. Brandon Saad had two assists.

St. Louis' Jordan Binnington allowed five goals on just 13 shots getting pulled with 12 minutes left in the second period. Joel Hofer took over and stopped all 12 shots he saw to earn the victory.

Nick Bjugstad and Michael Carcone each had a goal and an assist for the Coyotes, who took their third loss in a row. Jason Zucker, Lawson Crouse and Nick Schmaltz also scored, and Matias Maccelli had two assists.

Arizona goalie Karel Vejmelka stopped just 7 of 11 shots before being replaced by Connor Ingram 24:08 into the game. Ingram saved 18 of 20 shots the rest of the way but took the loss.

Hayes converted on a breakaway at 4:13 of the final period to put the Blues up 6-5.

Schenn earned his 600th career point and put the Blues up 1-0 on a breakaway at 8:47 of the first period.

Bjugstad answered less than two minutes by scoring from the low slot off Maccelli's pass.

The Blues retook the lead at 2-1 at 12:15 of the opening period. Saad passed to Parayko, who moved in from the right point to blast a slap shot through Jake Neighbours' screen.

Zucker converted a give-and-go play with Carcone to tie the game 2-2 with 1:54 left in the first period.

Just 22 seconds into the second period, Maccelli set up Crouse coming through the slot to put Arizona up 3-2.

However, the Blues pulled ahead 4-3 with two short-handed goals on the same Coyotes power play. Leddy converted a two-on-one rush off Kasperi Kapanen's pass, then Toropchenko scored from the left wing after taking a pass from Justin Faulk.

Carcone tied the game 4-4 by blasting a shot just inside the upper left corner the net 6:56 into the second. Less than two minutes later, Schmaltz put Arizona up 5-4 by curling off the left boards and firing a shot past Binnington on the short side.

Thomas tied the game 5-5 by whacking in the long rebound off a Jordan Kyrou shot at 10:49 of the middle period.
