Nino Niederreiter recorded a goal and an assist and Frederik Andersen stopped 19 shots as the Carolina Hurricanes rolled past the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-0 on Friday night at Raleigh, N.C.

Jordan Staal, Teuvo Teravainen and Vincent Trocheck also scored for the Hurricanes.

Ten of Andersen's saves came in the final period in picking up his third shutout of the season and the 22nd of his career.

The game marked pretty much a reversal of Columbus' 6-0 romp in the same building Jan. 13.

In this latest matchup, Carolina finished with a 50-19 edge in shots on goal, aided by a 38-9 advantage through two periods.

The Blue Jackets had a four-game winning streak snapped. They were coming off a 6-3 win at the Florida Panthers on Thursday, but couldn't make it back-to-back wins against the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.

Goalie J-F Berube, in his fourth NHL game of the season, made 46 saves, but he suffered his first defeat of the season.

Carolina has held five opponents to fewer than 20 shots in a game this season.

The Hurricanes hold a four-game winning streak and a five-game point string. This came about despite winning just one of their first four games (1-2-1) upon returning from the All-Star break.

The Hurricanes didn't get on the board until Staal's tally near the midway mark of the second period. It was just his fifth goal of the season, but two of those have come in the past three games.

Then Teravainen converted on a power play with 1:51 left in the period.

Niederreiter and Trocheck scored in a 36-second span less than two minutes into the third period.

It was Carolina's first game since learning that Tony DeAngelo, the team's top scoring defenseman, is bound to be out for at least about a month because of an upper-body injury.
