Andy Greene and Zach Parise scored the tying and go-ahead second-period goals against their former team Saturday night as the host New York Islanders finally earned their first win at UBS Arena by beating the New Jersey Devils, 4-2, in Elmont, N.Y.

Parise's short-handed game-winner was his first goal as a member of the Islanders and came on what would have been his late father J.P.'s 80th birthday. J.P. Parise scored 73 regular season goals for the Islanders in parts of four seasons with the team in the 1970s as well as the overtime game-winner that beat the New York Rangers and earned the franchise's first postseason series win on Apr. 11, 1975.

Noah Dobson and Jean-Gabriel Pageau also scored for the Islanders, who won for the second time in 14 games (2-9-3) and the first time in eight games at UBS Arena, which opened Nov. 20. The seven-game losing streak (0-5-2) to open the building was the longest by a team in its new home in NHL history.

Goalie Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves.

Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes scored for the Devils, who have lost 11 of 14 (3-8-3). Goalie Akira Schmid made 25 saves.

The teams combined for three goals in 84 seconds late in the first.

Jonas Siegenthaler picked off Scott Mayfield's pass in the neutral zone and dished to a wide-open Bratt, who scored with 2:59 left. Dobson's shot glanced off the stick of Damon Severson and fluttered over the stick shoulder of Schmid a mere 44 seconds later and just six seconds into a power play. Hughes then corralled a clearing pass by Sorokin to begin a sequence that ended with his go-ahead goal with 1:35 left.

Greene, who spent the first 13-plus seasons of his career with the Devils before being traded to the Islanders in February 2020, capped an end-to-end rush 8:33 into the second. Parise, who played with Greene in the latter's first six seasons, scored exactly eight minutes later.

Pageau added an insurance goal 9:37 into the third.
