Caesars officially launched its mobile app at a Magnolia State casino on Wednesday.

Under Mississippi’s sports betting laws, users can download the online sportsbook but must be on the premises of Harrah’s Gulf Coast in Biloxi to place mobile wagers.

“The launch of our Caesars Sportsbook mobile app at Harrah’s Gulf Coast is a game-changer for sports fans who visit the world-class destination,” said Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital. “Enhancing the fan experience remains a key focus for us across jurisdictions where we operate and bringing mobile wagering online in Mississippi builds on that. We look forward to providing an elevated and responsible sports wagering experience to our Biloxi customers going forward.”

Get in on the action

Harrah’s Gulf Coast is handing out giveaways and promotions when players place their first bet online through the weekend. Deposits can be made before arriving at the casino.

Its Biloxi retail sportsbook launched in 2018 and offers mobile and in-person bettors a kiosks, VIP fan caves, and other amenities with The 406 Club.

State of online

Magnolia State residents remain hopeful that legislative negotiations could lead to mobile sports betting in Mississippi. The Senate recently passed House Bill 774 by a vote of 36-15. However, this was a stripped-down version with amendments that took online sports betting out of the bill.

Currently, there are 30 commercial and tribal casinos with retail sportsbooks, but the push for mobile is neither over nor fulfilled.
