I'm a Tottenham fan and an England fan as everyone knows and after 2 losing finals I'm pretty but used to it, but congrats Spec, the better team won.
Anyway League 2 and I cashed very nicely on Cheltenham last year at 16/1, lets hope I can repeat this.
Salford are the short faves owned and backed by some Man U "legends", yeh but Ive seen league 2 games in person, theyre not pretty, played on sh!t pitches and throwing money around in this league doesnt guarantee success, they'll likely improve on 8th place but are easily passed over at 6/1 to win the league.
This league is a real crapshoot this season, I like to back one relegated team from league 1 and one playoff team from league 2 who didnt make it and this year I'll be going for Forest Green at 14/1 and Northampton town at 16/1 to bounce back.
League 1 next time and an overview of the euro leagues and then we'll get to the EPL and I've been watching the concacaf, Qatar have impressed me, don't under-estimate them against an under strength US team

so League 1 and usually there's a couple of strong faves who have been relegated from the Championship, were in the EPL very recently.
This league is wide open this year.
Rotherham and Wycombe were punching above their weight in the championship, this is their level and Sheffield Wednesday are a "bigger" club but have boardroom issues and have not really strengthened their squad.
Sunderland and Ipswich are the joint faves but theyve been languishing here for a few seasons now, at the prices, theyre easy to pass over.
at twice the prices, I like the unfashionable duo of Oxford and Lincoln, they both made the playoffs last year, both have up and coming managers who are shrewd in the transfer market, they'd be my picks in a very, very tough league to call.
Morecambe look a solid pick to be relegated especially with 4 going down from this league but 9 months is a long wait for an even money payout!

Ugh the Championship is a minefield this year, last year I had an easy cash on Norwich, they were head and shoulders above the rest and it proved it.
This year is horribly tricky, the 3 relegated sides from the EPL are the 1,2,3 in the betting and while they should go all well, in this horribly competitive league this year, I won't be taking anything under single figures.
I'll be taking a couple of fliers on Middlesboro and Cardiff, two clubs who can spend in the dying days of the window and who have 2 very experienced managers in McCarthy and Warnock who have had multiple clubs promoted, I can get cardiff at around 16/1, boro at 20/1 and they'll give us arun for our money.
I normaly take a stab at the relegation market but thats hard to call, derby are a mess and are struggling to field a team, may go thru administration and get points deducted but are odds on, that leaves 2 spots but I really can't pinpoint a club to definitively struggle so i'll pass on that this year.
I'll look at the EPL and Euro leagues next week, maybe we'll know where Messi will be by then

I was going to back Chelsea even without Lukaku but thats the icing on the cake with me if he signs. Tuchel was only at the club for about half a season, and I quote " Tuchel oversaw 19 league games last term having been appointed on January 26, and after that date, no team collected more expected points per game than Chelsea (2.10). The impressive stats don’t stop there though, as the Blues were the best defensive team in the league after Tuchel took charge, allowing just 0.68 xGA per game"
They beat Citeh a couple of times when it mattered last season and this squad will only improve under the german's tutelage, 5/1 is a tremendous value play, some english bookmakers allow you to bet "each way" 1/3 the odds if they finish 2nd which I'm also mulling over.
Liverpool disappointed last year even with all those injuries, their much heralded front 3 didnt look at the races at times, that was a poor a title defense as I've seen, its a joke they're the same odds as chelsea, Man u are a couple of players short even with Varane and Sancho, the transfer window hasnt closed yet but the fergie hangover will continue.
Arteta is out of his depth at Arsenal, they'll do better this season but will be locked in a private race with tottenham for a uefa cup qualifying spot at best.
There's no longer fancy odds on Leicester finishing top 6, theyre worth a stab at 9/2 to finish top 4. And as explained I like Liverpool to be out of the top 4 at 3/1.
Just to prove I'm really not a homer, I'm tempted to back tottenham at 10/11 to NOT be top 6 but as explained in an earlier post, thats a long wait for a payout.
You can get 3/1 on Citeh, Chelsea and Man U finishing top 3 in ANY order, thats my idea of the top 3.
I'll look at relegation markets, top goalscorer and anything else I like tomorrow

ganda whos your team again, so I can look out for them? vaas bigd yeh you can get double that price on Leicester but if u can win the league at 5000/1 !
Don't waste time looking for my home town team, it's AA Gent, you'll find them bottom of the league. Last season was a disaster, management didn't change a thing, kept the same inept coach and sold Dorsch and Yaremchuk, so no wonder they started with 2 losses and a draw. I'll be shocked if they get a result in Latvia on Thursday. Another season of disappointment and anger for me.

EPL relegation and there's always one "seasoned" club that goes down and you'd expect 1 or 2 of the promoted Championship clubs to struggle. Watford and Norwich have been here before recently and they along with Brentford have been busy in the transfer market so its hard to find the weak link here, I wont be betting on a club to finish bottom.
Wolves were punching above their weight with Santos, with him gone, there's a question mark, as long as mike ashley controls the purse strings at newcastle, they will struggle and southampton can barely win 2 games in a row under HassenHutl but they should all do enough to stay up.
I think its Burnley's time to hit the trap door, they used to be almost midtable but like Sheff Utd last year, teams have figured out Dyche's game plan now, there's not much money for a plan B, they're my bet at 5/2 to go down.

top goalscorer and the books have this as a 2 horse market with Kane and Salah at 3 and 4/1, both are too short at those prices, Kane especially can be injury prone. Lukaku's deal with chelsea hasnt gone thru yet but I'm very interested in the price on him if/when it becomes available. You can get 20/1 on the citeh pair Jesus and Sterling, Aguero has gone and they should be right up there, citeh were top scorers last season, 10 more than Man Utd.
Not much other value unless you can parlay stuff, chelsea will be top london club, leicester top midland club, I like Villa to go well this season, Grealish is a luxury player, they got good money for him, have made some other useful signings like Ings, theyre a decent play to finish in the top half or in match bets with similar teams.

Lukaku is 9/2 to be top goalscorer, he's played in the EPL before, its not great but he's at the perfect age now, is built like a tank and has speed, should get great service so that price could look great in a month or 2
PSG were winning La liga even before Messi came, dont see Bayern having any troubles which leaves Italy and Spain. I havent been able to watch Serie A much of late so I'm going to be taking a watching brief but La Liga looks interesting this year. Proper 3 way clash between Real, Atletico and Barca.
Atletico were deserved champions last year but now every game will be a cup final, added De paul but booked for 2nd for me. Real look like a team on the decline, Ancelotti is a regressive appointment for me. Its an older squad, modric cant play all the time, they took bale back, kroos is still knocking around, I like youngsters like Vinicius but there doesnt seem to be a spine to this team anymore, another year in the wilderness.
So that leaves Barca who I think will be better without the huge elephant in the room that was Messi. At the end of the day Lionel is 34, his best days are behind him, Man U reject Depay has a new lease of life and should form a good partnership with Aguero when he's fit, Koeman should do better than last year.
Its all about the prices, 5/4 on Real is way too short, Barca are twice the price at 5/2 and thats just not merited. 1 Barca 2 Atletico 3 Real.

Bollox--great read as usual at this time of year with throwball starting up too...like that Barca future-value without the Messi cloud hanging over their head; Taking Chelsea also at 5/1 to take the EPL-hard to pass on that value--City at 2/3 way too short! Good luck this season!

Boll, as always, hope all is well with self & fam. before i start; "but congrats Spec, the better team won" it was never about beating England. for us a lot of it was just getting back to being competitive. and one cant even say one team was better than the other. been on the other side of those results several times myself and theyre never fun. a new season helps push it further back.
have to admit to reading the start of your EPL with one eye closed, hoping i was on same lines/thoughts so im happy to dodge the bullet again. and feel better. Burnley? i give up on them. was suprissed of the prices with Chels at start of month and thought that TT on Foxes looked awfully low so we will see how that unfolds. Luk? ya know... he WOULD have won the Capp last year hadnt Inter owned such a big lead in the homestretch. as a fan, sad to see him go but wish him nothing but the best now that we know soo much more of his personality. on behalf of all the defenders in Serie A, theyre prob glad he's EPL's problem again (laughing)
disagree on Barca, i think they hit a wall come Oct. hard to tell tho, cupboard isnt bare in Camp Nou. media has blown that out of shape.
buddy up there is excited the Lower leagues are back, and can start that fire up again with plays. not everybody enjoys it but hey, its his home and who is anyone to judge ehhh? hope everything is well back home with your fam if youve been in contact. and GL this year

spec hope u and yours are good too spec, yes barca is somewhat of a speculative play but I think everyone is relieved the messi situation is over. Lukaku was a beast against arsenal today

Boll , apologies. very busy past few weeks with everything going on. hope all is well with self/fam, ill get back to you for certain. very nicely done there with Forest. that thought process "I like to back one relegated team from league 1 and one playoff team from league 2" is the first thing i look at too with lower leagues, then check to see how much/any defections on roster.
