Right, so true Peezy. 

I saw odds earlier of the Steelers -180 and the Ravens +180 to win their division. The Steelers seem to be playing better on offense and defense. Their oline didn't give up one sack versus the Browns.

Steelers will face some elite teams after this Bengals' Thursday game including: Packers, Bills, @Lions, Colts, @ Bears, @Chargers so these games will be a reality check for them. Are they real or are they memorex? I don't think the Steelers can keep up on offense with the big dogs. 

Mike Florio mentioned last week that there is a rumor that Lamar wants to renegotiate his contract for more money. Nothing verifiable but if true the Ravens might be cooked for this year.

Ravens' schedule for the remaining 11 games is much easier after their bye and if they were able to go 9 - 2 they still could get into the playoffs with a 10-7 record. Of course if their defense isn't healthier or isn't functioning it won't matter. 

Why are the Jets -1 versus any team? Fields threw for historically bad numbers versus the Broncos in London (-10 yards). Carolina on the other hand won in a shootout versus Dallas. The Jets are the very picture of futility.  

The Jets are probably the winning side is what my experience tells me but I would need narcotics to bet them. 

Are there any other week #7 lines that look other worldly? Anyone?

Totally agree with you both on the Jets getting their first win but for me it is the stinky number??? After the beat down in London, why would anyone in their right mind bet the Jets???  That Jets line of -1 is bizarro world.

I disagree, the NFL refused to be publicly associated with the gambling world for over 90 years with good reason and would severely punish any players who were found, even amongst themselves, making friendly wagers (see Alex Karras and Paul Hornung). 

Goodell sold his soul to Satan years ago so no surprise he would make the gambling industry the business partner of the NFL. If you can't see how this partnership is eroding any integrity left then I question whether you know right from wrong or good from evil. 

Perhaps what is played now should be called 'casino football'?

The only ex head coaches that have had consistent insight into caping the games were Hank Stram RIP on the pre game Monday nighters on radio when he would predict the winner and why. Also Tony Dungy provides quality insight from time to time IMO. The rest are just bloviating gasbags. I find Gruden's show entertaining. 

Since the modern NFL is only entertainment and is no longer a contested sport, the influence of ref calls and non-calls on the outcomes of games makes handicapping almost an impossible task. Now that Goodell has merged the NFL with the gambling industry, that further muddies the waters IMO.

All the best, am looking at the Browns now to be sure. Not sure if the Steelers are improving or regressing. They now bring in their mountainous TE Washington and another tackle on rushing downs which makes 7 olinemen. It helped their running attack versus the Vikings in Dublin. The Browns' D is great in limiting yardage on the ground and in the air but they give up a lot of points too.

The Lions have been a force of nature so far. I just hope they can stay reasonably healthy this year. The Chiefs will be the more desperate team this week but will that be enough? 

Teams that pay these QBs 40 and 50 million per year just don't have enough money to go around so the overall quality of the teams eventually suffers IMO.

The boneheaded Steelers followed the pay-scale of the Browns and paid their edge rusher 41 million per which is insane. In spite of what they say, the players do pocket watch what the other guy is making and it causes envy and jealousy etc into the locker rooms. 

Glad to see you back again for another year and I hope you post some thoughts from time to time. I miss the Autumns in the Northeast, the color of the leaves etc. All the best.
