In the US. taxing the top 1% less means less wealth for the rest of Americans. Unlike other rich countries, US government shifts less income from the rich to the poor. Negative impacts on population include lower economic growth, social mobility and life expectancy. Also higher poverty rate, household debt, risk of financial crisis and political polarization. Polls show most Americans favor higher taxes for the rich.
