I consider the derogatory term tampon in this reference to be inappropriate and of very poor taste, why are you defending the use of a term and then TRYING to clean your slate by pointing out something someone else said as a deflection?

Do you consider the term to be respectful and reasonable and not a term used as a put down on Walz and thus women too? Do you call your friends or your family or politiians you admire by that term?

Before President Snoreleon came along, there was only one person in my life that I absolutely despised.

That person is General Westmoreland who is responsible for the death of thousands of American soldiers. He lied & lied & lied about our progress, our strategy & he failed to counteract/adjust to the guerilla style attacks we experienced. He didn't listen to the American public who protested against the war. And who the fuck knew what our objective was? At first it was search & destroy. We totally miscalculated the resolve of our "so called" enemy. It was almost impossible to identify soldiers from regular people living in villages. Strategy then changed to "kill" counts as the most important factor to report. Fuck that! We regularly falsified our kills because it was extremely dangerous to march into the jungle to count dead bodies. It also played with our heads seeing dead women, children & their elders without arms, legs & exploded chests. Our morale sucked & we all just wanted to make it home. Westmoreland is despised by many veterans.

I didn't think I could despise another human being as much as Westmoreland until this fraud came onto the scene who has divided our country more than any other President, has antagonized our allies to the point they no longer trust our leadership & has no regard for the rule of law.

 You are a moderator, you simply should NOT pick sides. If you're going to call one side out, do the same on the other. Maybe things have gotten better over the last few months that I haven't been around. But the reason I checked out for a bit, was because you have several posters in here that would constantly lead with a derogatory term when describing people and it got old to read the same garage post after post. You want to say tampon is childish, but you'd let a few posters run wild in here day after day, post after post several months ago. Looking back at posts over the last month or so, it seems cleaned up. Just thought you'd be a bit more thick skinned to not let tampon offend you white knight.

Even if that was the case (which is a very very dubious assertion) it in no way means shooting the driver is a reasonable way to avert that danger. In that situation it clearly wasn’t. Shooting the driver was not “necessary to avert death or great bodily harm” so it’s not self defense.

And calling her a “fucking bitch” tells me he was angry at her for not complying, and that’s why he drew his weapon and ultimately killed her)

I think, under Minnesota law, he had a duty to retreat. Instead, he pulled a weapon. That is - I think - fatal to his defense.

I know in some of the views you can’t see the guy in front.  I know they had a few guys around the car at one point.  So she was aware they were around the car before she took off. 

I get why folks say just let folks like that go.  But like one guy pointed out— then when you catch up to them again and they run again, do you just keep letting them go.  

Also I think this same guy had already been hit and dragged by a car before.  

Until you have been put in a situation like this it is hard to say what they should have done.  

They did a test with civilians in a simulation in situations like this some time ago.  It was so amazing how easily they failed.  They were shooting unarmed innocents and everything in the simulation.  Because it is such human nature to prioritize your own safety instinctively.  
They did this to demonstrate to reporters, I think, how hard it is to make a snap decision.

So, while I understand the protesting, I cannot understand the blatant interference.  That is just putting too many people in harm’s way.  

I agree we do not know her intent.  Maybe she was just trying to flee.  But why put herself in that situation at all.  

If you want illegals allowed in and to stay in — protest.  But do not interfere.  It is up to your elected officials to stop it lawfully.  It is not up to each individual to impede them or run interference.  

I am not sure, even if Minnesota law does say that, it does not allow for defense if you are feeling threatened by a deadly weapon.  A car going into gear and then changing gear again to go forward and being floored is a threat. 
So, I assume if Minnesota law does not allow a LEO to protect themselves that the federal law would supersede it in that instance. 

Yes, a bad situation all around.  
I am sure he could have dove away.  But remember in his proximity to the car he cannot see the wheels because he is too close to the front of the car.  Plus they are on an icy street.  He might have slipped and got ran over anyway.
Then with the rash of ICE agents and others, including this same guy, having been attacked with cars — he does NOT know her intent.  If he dove away she could very well have been intending to swerve toward him again.  

He does not have time to make that calculation of what her intent is.  I think the one study said .079 seconds was what it was.  

I am sure at first, he, and the other officers, just thought she was doing the same thing she had been doing all day.  Then all of a sudden she reversed and backed up and then shifted into drive and shot forward.  They probably thought — uh oh this is not the same situation but something altogether worse.  

It just is the guys doing the same job they were doing under Biden.  But now that it is being done under Trump they do not like it all of a sudden. 

Again, that is fine.  Protest, but do not blatantly interfere.

 I did hear the guy walking up to her to tell her to ‘get out of the fucking car’.  But I did not hear him call her a ‘bitch’.  
Maybe he did.  But I did not hear the front guy say anything.

But you see cops do that all over the world when they are frustrated with folks that are interfering or not complying with their orders.  You have to remember they are put in situations where folks are very aggressive towards them and confrontational all the time. 
It is not like the Andy Griffin show and all simple negotiations.  

The other aspect is she knew the other guy had his arm in the car when she took off.  He could have got caught up also and dragged under.  
She may have been frightened.  But she unnecessarily put herself in a very precarious situation.  This is the very reason these guys are so on edge.  
They not only have to contend with violent illegals trying to be aggressive towards them, now they have the citizens attacking them.  

It is not a good mixture.

Yes I have seen that.  The voice I am pretty sure was the wife that was filming and then the guy walking to the side of the car reaching in.

The view obviosly then shows her surge into the guy with the body camera.  She clearly knew he was there.

But I still did not hear either of them call her a 'bitch'.

But either way it was a mess.  It always will be when nay civilian gets in the way of law enforcement.

I mean there are reasons they tape off scenes and have barricades put up.  They just cannot do it in these cases that effectively.  Unless they are going to just barricade a whole block off.

But a very bad situation to insert your self into.

You see people harassing officers that are arresting robbers.

You see wives turn on cops that are arresting abusive spouses.

It is just not a good place to be.

I am not sure exactly what you mean by not following the Constitution.  This is erroneous if you are implying that illegals have the same rights under the Constitution that citizens do.

Obviously, the 5th and 14th amendments sets up the due process part.

The illegals are handled under what is termed the ‘procedural due process’.

That part of the Constitution has always been followed in the past, akan is followed today.

We know that the 18 U.S.C. 1325 is being broken when they enter illegally, or come here and then stay illegally.

So, ICE has been set up, in part, to control this and to detain and apprehend those that are breaking this.

So, if things were not following the Constitution they would have been in courts many times already for not doing so.

The issue is that this has been going on for a long time.

Like I said above: If you look at the data points, the arrests that ICE made last year was roughly 1700 — about the equal to what we have seen in the previous years.

And:

Over the 6500+ arrests made while Biden was in office — not once did any of these officials complain that ICE was making the streets unsafe.

If you go all the way back to how Eisenhower handled it you would see a much more extreme example of this.  This was known as ‘Operatinon Wetback’ — that is not politically correct to call it that nowadays.  But you can go back and look up how he handled it.

So, it is not a matter of this administration not following the Constitution, it is not that they are doing it at unprecedented numbers, and it is not that they are doing it in any different manners.

The issue is that it is Trump doing it now.

Certainly Trump could be more tactful about how he talks about it.

But you have to keep in mind this was one of the top 2 reason he was elected the first time, then it was probably the top reason he was not reelected, then it was one of the top 2 reasons he was elected this time.

Anytime you start a discussion about an issue you have to start where you diverge in the discussion.  You have to take it back to there.  You cannot start arguing about how they are removed if you do not go back to the beginning and ask if they should have been allowed in to start with.

This is the root of the problem, the Right does NOT want illegals allowed in; the Left does not only WANT them allowed in — they encourage it.

Then you have to ask if that is Constitutional — and it is not.

Then you have to ask why the Left wants them allowed in.  That is a whole other discussion.

You have to remember that a lot of these folks are coming from a bartering type of situation, or a tit-for-tat system.

It is purely transactional for them.  When they do not ‘get’ what they expect from the transaction it can be turned on them.

The guy in Lewiston, who is from Somali, said, quite bluntly, if they do not start ‘getting’ what they were promised that they would have to reconsider who they are voting for in the future.

Which raises a whole other discussion.

But the root cause of all of this current protesting is that it isTrump that is in office.

These folks were not protesting when Biden was rounding them up, or when Obama was deporting even more than Biden or Trump were.

It is a complex issue, I realize that.  It has been building to this point for decades, I realize that.

But at some point it has to be stopped.  Trump realizes this is the main reason a lot of people voted for him.  So, he feels he has to constantly point it out to appease them, I guess.

But you can look to Europe — I always say they are a leading indicator on a lot of these social issues.  There you can see the problems they are facing.

The root or point is …The legal and proper way you remove the illegal immigrates!  One must remember he campaigned criminal dangerous immigrants you know the convicted gang members and ones who were released from mental institutions! Instead in many cases ice is going after people came here during the bush administration and are nothave roots in there respective communities and children some who are or have already served in the military! There is also no due process and in many case they stopped by skin profile! Just look who is carrying out this task  and agents who many have 6 weeks of training and backgrounds that with great probability many don’t not remotely meet the standards of any law enforcement job!….This will see the light of day in the near future! Democrats will be displaying this Administration ‘s  skeletons for years to come! At the end of the day this is not what the middle of the road conservative or independent voted for !
