@wallstreetcappers
So what is nonsense that I paid less under Biden than under Trump?
Correct
Gotcha when my actual facts and truth do not jive with your partisan softball for Trump then it is nonsense. I refute your premise so I dont care if I paid more or less under Biden vs Trump, I do care that Trump is a liar and a con and has no accountability but I am not partisan with regards to pricing and facts regarding your premise.
I guess my lower than market cost last week from price shopping is also nonsense because some PHX national average is X so I had to pay the PHX metro market average even though I do not reside in that specific part of the county and my city has a different average than the generic PHX metro number.
I could have been a real jerk and drove 30 min to Pinal country where they do not have gas formulation regulations because of the lack of population and so pricing can be 50 cents lower than Maricopa county, I could have said I got gas for 2.40 under Biden but that would be partisan silliness and not actual truth and fact with regard to where I live.

You are comparing apples to oranges.
You just have to learn to look at it critically and examine it.
You cannot simply compare January prices to October prices.
I explained it in slow motion for you. It is up to you to understand it at this point.
If prices had been higher under Trump so far you would be gleeful to point it out.
I am sorry it did not fit your narrative that it has come down.
As much as you hate the man, you should be able to give the man a bit of credit for it, in as much as he can attempt to help.
You did not pay, at any comparable time or type, more at any month this year than you did last year under Biden.
That is the difference.
You can't use grab a random time and price and compare it. I just assumed you knew better than this.
I overestimated your understanding of this I guess.

This thread is GAS PRICES made by a Trump fan to try and shade fact and truth. I dont care who the POTUS is with regards to gas prices because it DOES NOT MATTER. The fact you are apologizing, making excuses and deflecting for Trump shows to you facts and truth do not matter because you are only interested in protecting and elevating him. My only issue (as stated multiple times) is he made flippant flabby claims which he did not fulfill, had he not made these stupid claims of FIRST DAY and all his rambling nonsense then the issue would not exist.
I can compare gas prices in Jan to now, I just did. I said I paid less the last week of Biden's term than I have for ANY of the fills since Trump got in and that is fact, I can say that because it is fact. You using weak talking points like I have to pay metro PHX prices as a retort are short even for you since I do not live downtown, I live in the suburbs and my prices are not ever going to be METRO average prices. If Costco averages 30 cents lower than market averages, in Jan the market average in my city was 3.12, I paid 2.79 there is nothing you can do outside of saying nonsense to the facts of what I paid.
Given your alleged economic background I do not get how all these discussions about market economy and OPEC seem to not resonate with you, it is not magic or fake news this is reality and truth.

Crucial point missed. Even if you're paying less presently under Trump, as Uniman is in Michigan and I am in PA........ it's only because the knowledge, fortitude, and tenacity of Biden on the global stage postured Trump to ride his coat tails to glory.
And even if that isn't the case and Trump did it on it's own, 3.30 to 3.01 is like only 8.2%, I mean big whoop.
And even if 8.2% is a big whoop to you.........Tariffs
And even if tariffs have been negligible........inflation bomb...16 economists.
I guess I am just a simp but I'll tip my hat to whoever sits on the throne when prices are lower than before cause it seems like they don't want this man, I mean country, to have any wins.

@UNIMAN
Problem is with lower crude and gas prices it means we cannot add the marginal production that the small frackers bring, Trump promised lots of goodies to the fracking community and with oil down here under 60 it means those little frackers who were promised drill baby drill cannot afford to produce.

Arizona gets the majority of it's gasoline from California refineries. Michigan from Detroit refinery and pipelines. In Michigan state tax on gas is 51 cents a gallon, Arizona only 19 cents. Would have to say California losing refineries is impacting those dependant on them.

I am simply pointing out facts. The prices have come down. Just as we predicted.
You were wrong about them.
I have explained here and elsewhere many times how all of the gas/oil machinations work. There are certain 'levers', so to speak, that a President has within his control. Biden used them one way and Trump is using those another way. The dynamics are complicated but you have to do what you can to control what you can. The things Trump has done domestically and internationally have had an effect, just as they did with Biden.
I was right on the oil and gas and have been right on the LNG.
It is not just about Trump. But to deny the good he has done is disingenuous because if it had been the opposite you certainly wou9ld have piled on him. You already tried it when I pointed out they the prices were down by saying he lied and didn't bring them down -- when they clearly are down. So, he deserves some credit as well as all of the other dynamics.
Now, whether the trend continues or not is a completely different issue. Maybe the next 3 years it goes completely the other way.
Time will tell.
My point is just take advantage and make the money while you can.

Well if you value lower oil prices higher than trading with China - this is good news I guess ! Because that is the main reason it has fallen - just like it did in May this year ! It is because supply is higher than demand - normally countries want as high a demand as possible to further their capital growth and risen oil prices is also one of the best signs of a country in growth - but I have of course no idea what you guys want - you seem to be celebrating every single time something bad happens to your country

Ok so pivot away from facts and talk about LNG when this thread is not about LNG, Ive never discussed LNG with regard to crude or gas prices because they are a different product and different pricing. My only comments that I can recall is about the implausibility of transport when we discussed Europe not using Russian LNG, the transport is too costly to make it feasible and building a pipeline from Valero to Europe is quite obtuse and a bad idea if that is the retort.
I love how you try and take some data to make a point but dismiss fact when it does not work to your advantage. Of course gas prices are lower, crude is under 60 well duh but that isnt what we were discussing nor is it about a year ago. My comment was that in Jan the last week of Biden I paid less than I have since Trump got in..that is it and that is fact and truth. So if you want to talk about somewhere else thats groovy bro because Trump and gas prices have little to do with each other. You throw around generalities and minimizers like terms LEVER while not pointing at the blaring fat Trump size elephant in the room which is OPEC and that we are a MARKET economy, nah that doesnt fit your Trump narrative so dismiss the blaring siren truth and deflect away using lever generalities. You cannot side step two facts and those two facts shape pricing, OPEC and MARKET ECONOMY...nothing really else to say on pricing. And no mention (shocker) that Trump NUMEROUS times promised day one lower gas prices, no mention of his con lies...just stick with levers and last month deflectors.

@Calde13
Its a one sided coin, Trump pandered to frackers to get votes promising drill baby drill even though US production was at historic highs because those people need fracking to make a living and it meant a VOTE for him, the problem is the lower fringe frackers have a higher cost basis for their exploration and the little frackers are the added production to DRILL baby drill. The main doods have their production plans out and working for 18 months plus, we know the majors production results before they even start so the HIGH majority of US and Canada oil production is counted before it is done, the extra capacity comes from the mid to small size producer who are frackers. Fracking costs more for small players and has worse margins so the quandry is that Trump campaigned on both sides of the same coin, that day 1 he would drop gas prices and he promised frackers more work and that means HIGHER prices or they cannot produce and make a profit.
When you play all sides and are a loud mouth schmuck like Trump then in this case he cannot be right about both and he is failing on both fronts.

Who cares what you paid in January compared to today. It doesn’t make sense in the context of the overall downward trend in gas prices. That is a pivot. It does not make any sense.
Prices are lower in the winter and a different blend. This is not complicated to understand.
Even in real estate you use like comps. In economics you do the same.
Compare what price you paid the last year under Biden at the same time of the year under Trump.
For example, compare prices in June of last year to June of this year.
Otherwise, your statement is just silly.

This is from Forbes a couple of days ago. This is how you determine a trend:
The nation’s average price of gasoline has fallen 4.9 cents over the past week and stands at $3.051 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The national average is down 14.9 cents from a month ago and is 14.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

You have a narrative that serves your objective as you talk about LNG which is off topic and thanks for explaining how pricing works for LNG, not that it added to any conversation or was nothing I didnt already know but that tangent is yours and congrats on it.
A year ago is not relevant because the entire premise of this thread and every one of my comments was that gas prices for Arizona have not been lower since Trump took the seat and in fact there is an article today about metro prices not being under 3 for several years, that is metro prices which are higher than what I pay and winter formulation starts NOW not before, that has in the past made an impact but it is not the sole driver because market prices and the formulation difference determines not only one. Now with oil under 60 once the refiners finally get around to changing the formulation (they delay and have plant upgrades all a bunch of nonsense to keep profits up as i have discussed in detail before) the price MIGHT go down it might not but what I know and stated is my situation and you said it was nonsense, well for uniman in Michigan his prices are different than mine and other areas of the country prices are even higher than AZ, I only stated that my prices have never been lower since Trump took office and that is 100% fact.
I do not look at comps OUTSIDE MY REGION when pricing houses, thanks for that brilliant point. I will look at Kansas to see what my house is worth using this outstanding logic, comps and gas prices are region to region but maybe in your neck of the woods that isnt the case.

The last post had nothing to do with LNG.
That was solely about the price of gas being down compared to last year.
No sir. The purpose of this thread was that the price of gas was starting to come down.
Maybe an easy way to see it for you is to compare the average monthly price for each month since Trump took office to what each month was from last year.
If you bought gas one time each month last year and one time each month this year—you would have paid less for gas this year.
You do not have to look for comps outside of your region. They track every region separately online for you.
That is why I pointed out the Phoenix prices for you from those various months.
The price has to be relatively compared. I would have thought you understood that sort of thing. But when they switch to summer blend and people travel more — that is what you have to compare. Not is your price cheaper now that the expensive blend is being used and people are traveling more forcing demand and price up.
This is so basic I assumed you knew this. But this is how you parse out and make apt comparisons to spot trends.

Comparing gas prices in low-travel winter season on a winter-blend to a busy-travel summer season on a summer-blend is like comparing the cooling costs of your house in January and September. That does not make sense at all.
You would compare your cooling costs from last September to this September.
Maybe that will help you understand why they say gas prices have come down. It is not that they are at the lowest absolute price in two years. That is not how they compare it.

This is about as straightforward as I can demonstrate it:
Adjusted for inflation in Phoenix in January 2024 gas was $3.370 and in June it was $3.810.
Adjusted for inflation in Phoenix in January 2025 gas was $3.180 and in June it was $3.310.

You are talking circles including irrelevant tangents, I am not adjusting for inflation to make an analysis, I am comparing average prices in MY area from Jan THIS YEAR to Oct of THIS YEAR...you are spinning hard trying to save face, my comparisons are just average price at the pump nothing more and nothing less. You cannot throw in variables like winter formulation because as I explained that variable MIGHT impact prices, it might not. There have been times when based on market prices the impact of formulation change was ZERO. The only variable is bottom line price at the pump in MY area from Jan this year to Oct of this year.
Your LNG and regional comparison and someone else is lower blah blah blah means zero to the point I have been making and it is only my price not anyone elses and last I checked when I tap my card to pay there is not an inflation adjustment add on or subtractor at the pump, the price at the pump is the price at the pump and that alone.
When prices go lower under Trump than Biden then that will be groovy and many people here might benefit, the problem is your guy promised day one nonsense, that is the reason for my comments and to which you have not held him responsible. I have stated many times that the correlation of who is in the seat to gas prices is stupid talk, it is idiotic trap yapping and anyone who actually believed his lies needs to wake up and educate the realities of market economies and cartel pricing.
I took your advice this week and put my house on the market at 2.5M because I found a comp of my SF in a different region and also factored in Trumpflation and decided that 2.5M is regional median pricing and that means I should be closing within the next 30 days or so, someone told me that is how pricing is determined and that means it will happen.
