I'm a male prostitute (only women though, unlike many friends i have in the business.
 
I normally charge around $25 for my services (I'm not very good).
 
So...I like to bet games for around 10% of my income. If I bang 3 or 4 women that day I have around $100 and I'll bet 4 games at $2.50 each. Very high stakes for me.
 
I did hit my NFL plays at a 60% clip last season and I was able to afford my STD medication for this year. So I feel like i'm ahead of the game

I've always been interested in investing but I'm not as business savvy as you.
 
What do you think an investment newb should start off with?  Besides starting with a practice account of course.

Interesting thread.

I look at sports gambling as a hobby. No different than fishing or woodworking or stamp collecting.

I spend about the same amount that I would doing any of those activities. I don't lose any sleep. Sometime I win sometimes I lose but I l have a great time handicapping.

I never bet money I cannot afford to lose.

You can chalk that up as the third truth.

I think if you can start with 2k youd be in good shape...it will take some time to build your roll but you can make $50-$100 per trade right away...but you got to use a practice account to at least get a handle on whatever trading platform you use...again though all the indicators on the charts are the same for the stock market so if you have any exp trading youre not really starting fresh...

I use forex.com and if you choose to open a practice account ask somebody in the live help section to set the amount of $$$ in the account to what you would like to start with...if you can start with 2k real $$$$ try a practice account with 2k...

The doctor will bet between 10 and 100 depending on how i feel.  I even do $1 parlays that paid over $200, and yes i jumped for joy.  And I make over 50K (I know its not that much for NY)a year but it's dumb to bet 3K a day.

Wheres CroatinNation or Allamay he bets 35K a day.


You got rednecks from Bama (no offense) betting 500 a game

Best part of all this is that even after posting how senseless my gambling patterns are and how I will do anything but win, I managed to turn an up 1500 dollar day into a loss of 2k(3500 swing) just by getting home at 3am last night and playing bj when I could barely even see straight.  Hope someone learns my lesson, I obviously never will.  And to the point of only bet what you have, I am now back to zero so I will wait until things are good again until I play(with the exception of my vegas trip next weekend, great timing.)

Anyone who says they bet a few grand is most likely a lire but there always are exceptions like me. Because I bet mostly tennis and soccer and mainly in game trading. I can bet a few grand with no sweat because its almost guaranteed. There are some bad beats but if you trade right they are few and far between. Honestly anyone with a brain can make money this way they just gotta have a good size starting bankroll.

you start small and work your way up....
 
I like roundys and parlays.... I sometimes get up to $3000 roundys... after I know im hot... other wise I keep it tight.. and take straight bets when im up.

I graduate from University last week in finance...

last year I start my bankroll with 500$, then I went 5 time all in in game that I was pretty confident to win and my bankroll was almost up to 10K after that...

now I bet 200$-500$ a game...

Agreed, most of the bookies I know make more of their money during football season. During the off season I seem them at home or mainly fishing. lol

Whether you believe this or not your book makes his living during football season yet everybody lines up every year to try and beat him. Don't bet football, play a survivor pool instead.....you'll save money believe me.
My friend Lisa loves Texas hold'em tournaments. She'll go all in 9 times and win. She'll go all in the 10th time and lose, lose everything. 90% winner but none-the-less a loser. And ultimately a whiner/complainer she caught a bad beat. The more games you play in a night the more likely you'll get a bad beat. And there goes your cash.
This season I bet between 500 - 2500 per game. 95% of the time I made one bet per day.

I'm also a student majoring in accounting. Last football season I did bad. I normally bet usually 1-2 units in a game, straight. 1 unit= 50 for me. I was down probably at least 30 units. Do the math, 1500 total. But thank god for basketball season, I was able to come out for the year with +16 units. So far this year, I'm doing better and yes it's all about money management.
