started off with $20 dollar bets back in high school. made some coin off that and realized i could pay my way thru university
1st yr - $100..won enough to pay for tuition (school is cheap in canada) 2nd yr - $100-$300 ..won a bit more. this was the era of fading public (cmoney, ragone, rush) 3rd, 4th, 5th yr - average bet between $50 - $100. max bet $500. got extremely lucky on some nights and lost a bunch on other nights
now i work full time as a consultant betting anywhere between $50 - $150. ups and downs (mostly down as of late but nothing serious).
i would say im pretty average in terms of betting amounts. i would never bet anything that i would sleep over.

I bet from $100 - $800 for a game. my $800 bet only when I really have a strong feeling on one particular game but mostly just $100, $200 and $50 for the parlay.
My biggest bet ever was like 2 year ago and it was $5000 bet on college football. It was mix feeling on that ime. It's alot of money and I was just can't stay still for one minute. I went back and forth in my living to bedroom, turn on TV a little bit then turn it off everytime the other team have a ball. It was so exciting when you win but it sure damn give you a fricking heart attack. From that day on, I didn't bet big amount no more cause I just can't stand to have those feeling anymore.

I have an net income (after taxes and all) of around 75K/yr. I have a wife and 2 daughters. I am 43 yrs. I usually bet 200-300 a game and try to limit my loss at 2K/week. Its very hard to bet more than that if you want to be an everyday bettor. Very difficult to have 3 good weeks in a row, but very easy to have 4 or even 5 bad weeks in a row. Its hard to believe someone who lose 10K a week, can continue to bet 1K or 2K a game the week after. The stress and pressure are enormous. Some posters here on covers act like they can print money... a dime here, 2 dimes there...day in day out...If I have that kind of money, I'd rather enjoy life than gambling and spending time posting on covers and endure the bashing...don't you agree?....

I always thought what people do and how much someones bets is non of my business and it isn't. If your comfortable with what YOUR doing then that should be good for you. Why do you want to know other peoples business? Take it all with a grain of salt and worry bout yourself. Not trying to be a smart ass either and by the way I never got to say congrats on your 12 team par a little while back. GL

My regular play is $200-$300. If I like it, its $500-$800. I will do 15-20 $1000. I have been doing this for a while and have had some success but like most, you have your ups and downs.
I rarely post plays just because the bashing is unreal. When I do post, it hasn't been negative but like I said, I seldom do it. I find it hard to comprehend why winning posters are hated here. When I was starting out, I used to browse this forum for information from posters but 95% of them are squares and have no clue.
I am a Speech Therapist. I had a gambling account set up that is separate from bills. Its the only way you can do it.

Do any of you guys use other sites for sports betting/handicapping information or discussion?
I look for 3 posters here on a daily basis to see their thoughts.
I also look on 2 other sites daily. Not to follow necessarily but to match up my plays. In total I follow 10 posters daily. I use 4 specifically for MLB only.

I, personally, bet between $100-$300 per game. I use a local, and work off of a line of credit. It's a lot different than most of you guys who use an online book. If I get down $1500 its not THAT big of a deal, because I believe I can bounce back. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying $1500 isn't a nice amount of coin. The most I've ever lost in one week is $2700, most ever won was $4200. That was just recently, when the unders were rampant, take the Yankees, bet against the Mets, etc. Largest wager ever was on Bodog, two years ago. Took Oregon to beat Oregon State for $2000. It hit, but I'd never do it again.
I'm 29 years old, work in management at a well known car dealership.

Kinda of interesting thread. I literally gamble for a living. Usually more on the golf course than on sports. I played on the mini tours for a while but it is really expensive and you have to top 10 every week. Now I just play events close to home as well as bar b q events which are basically a big gamble fest. The real money maker is playing guys around the area that think they are really good and have a lot of money. I am lucky and have a good girlfriend that is the serious bread winner. My units are $25 and never play more than 2 units.

I own a marketing company and do o.k, I have never been married, no kids, no debt = very happy. I bet $100 a play and when I'm up I'll take a shot $500 to $3,000. Been gambling for twenty years and I have learned a lot, the key is money management and SELF CONTROL.

I could almost "guarantee " I could afford to lose betting dimes a game moreso than most here that do bet that much Been betting for more than 30 years and my secret is I very rarely bet more than you do I lost 425 on the Rangers last night Most I lost on one bet all year One other way to stay in the game is ...stay away from the ponies

I usually bet between $200 and $500 on a game and will very rarely go one or two grand. I don't consider myself a high roller by any means ... but the amounts I bet are enough to mean something either way ... I'm happy when I win and it hurts a little when I lose but it's really the only "vice" I have and all the bills are paid so it's all good.
