Just fyi, they only tell you to not commit crimes against your fellow humans, it doesn't really tell you how to live your life in the sense that you come across....

Just because you can't explain something (how perfect the chaos is), doesn't mean you chalk it up to something that doesn't exist.
this is one of many reasons why religion is so prevalent, even today. it's natural, and the human psyche has evolved, to apply a simplistic solution to complex problems we don't or can't understand. it is similar to our innate pain response. both physically and mentally, humans gravitate towards an increased level of comfort. if something is painful, we avoid it because pain is a undesirable state. if something is too complex to understand, we avoid that state by assigning a simple solution to it.
and what could be more simplistic that God, who is personified as a he of all things, is the answer to these questions. plus God loves me and heaven, etc has the added psychological bonus of not only be simplistic but comforting.

well i do not believe in the existence of satan becasue i am not a christian. i am altheist. if you are a true christian then u have to believe in the existence of satan.
I suppose you were a fan of Madeline Murray O'hara and her very ugly son?
I suppose I would think the same thing if it wasn't for this line of thinking.... God gave us 100% domain over only 1 thing in our life. Just one. It's the ability to control our thoughts. Why do you suppose it's this one thing that was chosen? Also, with that, how does the earth stay in existence? How does everything work in a natural order of things? Like summer to fall, gravity, animals procreating? There has to be a divine power that put everything in there. Protons, electrons, neutrons, DNA?
If you've ever witnessed the birth of one of your children, you'll see a miracle right before your eyes. You'll get spiritual right then and there!

for a perfect example of this psychological phenomenon, see callmetim's post #136.

50, 100, 1000 years ago it was NOT a fucking miracle. It was just part of life, nothing more nothing less. No wonder kids today are fucked up if their parents think they're miracles. Please.

Tell me, how difficult is it living in your shoes with such a pessimistic outlook?
