I know the Florida allegations are true as for the recruiting issues I have no idea and would like to gibe NEwton the benfit of the doubt but his history is far from squeaky clean and he had his chance at mic to end all of this but didn't

Turns out the wait was a short one, thanks to ESPN's Joe Schad, who dropped the follow-up tonight with the loudest thud imaginable:

Two sources who recruit for Mississippi State said that Cecil Newton and his son, quarterback Cam Newton, admitted in separate phone conversations to a pay-for-play plan while Newton was being recruited late last year.

Screw reading between the lines. In three paragraphs, we're presented with straightforward accusations that the current Heisman Trophy frontrunner and his father both a) Directly solicited money from a school and b) Admitted to accepting money from another school. Which, as a result, is currently undefeated and on track to play for the BCS championship. Cam Newton, Cecil Newton and the university all denied Schad's requests for comment.looking to get involved. The IRS may not be far behind, with Cecil Newton's financial records (already requested by the NCAA, per the elder Newton himself) in its sights. This scandal just settled in for the long haul.
