 Are you aware of Alternate game totals? 

On BET365, and most any other gambling website, I can play all sorts of alternate totals. So, while Vegas books may have to total set to 6.5, we can play O5.5 for an easier, more predictable win, but we get crappier odds which is why you will see me discussing in game Live Plays to get better odds on the O5.5 plays. I often play VERY small on the O6.5 as 7 goal games are typically the top end of scoring (5-2 or 3-4 scores are most common when making it over the 6.5 total. I play slightly larger on the O5.5. If no goals get started early (depending on game flow) I will sometimes live bet the 4.5 as well. 

Hopefully this helps you find a new way to bet and make it more fun! I really only play the O5.5 totals in my threads since thats what all of my data in both models is set up to predict. 

DET/ANA was about as easy an O5.5 as it comes. WAS did not do their part to get over the 5.5 total. Bummer. We move on. 

Today I like OTT/MON O5.5 -165 As always, I would prefer better value on these and always look for live plays at 4.5 if scoring doesn't happen immediately. 

Others I like for O5.5 plays are:

CAR/BOS

TOR/PHI

CHI/EDM

COL/SJS - COL played VGK hard on Halloween and really shut them but they still managed to get the game O5.5. I can see a lot of the same here but maybe the younger talent in SJS showing out some at home. another 4-2 score is possible. Also possible with COL on the B2B we see the Avs hang back and force SJS to beat them or make a mistake the more veteran COL team will take advantage of. Not enough B2B data to see how teams are playing them yet this season but typically I would play this as good O5.5 target.

STL/CBJ - This is one I like the least but could easily see this being the one game that ends up blowing up for 10 goals and going into an OT. 

Need the tying goal from DET To cover 5.5 and 6.5. I think we get a 3-3 tie at some point in the third.

Not a great line but model loves DET/ANA O5.5 currently -175 on BET365. I also think it's a great play. If they can hold off scoring for the first couple minutes given the line is sitting at -105 for O6.5 it should move to a more reasonable O5.5 number within a few minutes of no goals being scored. I would like to get this game at -125 or better to increase value of the play but I think the scoring starts early in this one similar to NJD/SJS last night. The O6.5 at -105 might not be a bad bet but for what it's worth, the model I run with the controls set at 6.5 and a -105 line say that game would be a PASS. However, if you were to change the controls to +105 O6.5 the model changes the best side pick to an Over play due to the added line value (side note - I have been tweaking this model due to limited data from early season results. Since tracking started on 10/17/2025 the record is 26 in 43, roughly 60.40%. But the last 4 days from 10/27-10/30 we are 16/15. A lot of that is teams are scoring which helps the outcomes in our favor, but it has gotten considerably more accurate this week hitting at 93.75% if you had played every predicted O5.5.) I say that to say this, if it's already a borderline play at 6.5 so 5.5 should not be an issue for these two teams who have not had issues scoring lately. 

I also think the O5.5 -165 on the NYI/WAS game is absolutely in play. Another one I will wait to see about a live line for value but may also take a stab on the O6 -120.

What's going on fine hockey folks!? I've been enjoying the first three weeks of the NHL season. Some things never change. Sharks can score but not win (except last night, congrats to the Sharkie's on a huge over and big win in rag town). VGK puts Stoner on a wacky IR list early in the season to call him back later in the year like a bad ex that's good in bed. FLA looks a little different with their injuries and the damn PHI Flyers can't buy a goal to save a coach's job. 

Locked in:

SJS/NJD O5.5-120 

Took this game early morning around 1:00AM when I saw the line was O6.5+125 which landed the O5.5 at -120. I jumped all over that shat. Looking now its sitting at O6.5+100 and O5.5-175. They know these teams are going to score. SJS played and won their first game last night in NY and score 6 on the rags. NJD defense is MUCH better, but so is their offense. If the scoring is slow to start this game, I will also take the live play on O4.5 starting at -125. I do not expect that to be the case. 

Looking for Live:

TOR/BUF O5.5 Live Play if possible -120 or better. 

I will be looking for a quick live play on the O5.5 in this game. The line right now for O5.5 is -165. I think if the scoring doesn't immediately open up, we may be able to squeeze some more value out of this play. Any odds -120 or better I will take as a LP for this game. If the scoring happens before we can grab decent value this game will be a PASS.

I think it was an accident for Drisatil.  Just an unfortunate coincidence for his stick being where the puck was shot. If skinner stays home its a moot point and we are starting OT right now

while this is true, if skinner stays in his crease there is no reason Drisatil needs to have his stick there to risk tipping it in. That goal is 100% on a piss poor decision by Skinner.  EDM may have lost in OT anyway but Skinner blew any chance they had at OT with that silly play out of his crease. Stay home and do your job, protect the net.  Oh well EDM LARGE in game 4

Gains! What a game last night! The live plays proved to be profitable as well! I will be playing the same angle in this one tonight.

I took the O5.5 at +125 as soon as the line for STL/WIN came out late Friday night. If no scoring in the first 2-3 minutes this one is likely to drop to O4.5 on a LP, nothing in ten maybe to 3.5 in the first. Blues can score but can they do it on the road. I'll ride the total down on this one in hopes of riding it back up the way it did last night. Already in on O5.5, why not make money on the way there? Last night's game added to a list of elimination games O5.5. Last night the teams both played very conservatively, until they could not afford to do so. Hopefully these guys tonight are going for the death blow, and we pop a 6-2 type score or it's a heavy weight slug fest that's 3-3 by the end of the second. Either way I am looking to see two really good netminders get violated repeatedly tonight. Let's go goals. Cheers and BOL!

I am also on this play buddy. Only 2 of the elimination games from the first round have stayed U5.5. VGK/MIN was only lacking the tie goal or EN to cover while WAS/MON only got to 5 goals due to the EN goal scored. Also all three games in DAL during this series have gone O5.5. I just took it at +105 on BET365 so I am hoping for a good high scoring game here. I will also take a slow start and hit the O4.5 live play as well. BOL to us tonight! Cheers!
