Based on the goals me and my wife laid out, so begins the sports betting hiatus. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Any posts you see from me are either leans or what I would have gone with, had I continued to place wagers.
So… based on nothing factual except for whichever team is featured on Hard Knocks usually loses their week 1 (swear it’s the new Madden curse but for teams), I would have hammered the Titans spread, I more than likely would have parlayed it with game total under.
I leant - Pats/Cincy under Falcons spread Seahawks ML Chargers/Raiders game under
BOL to all placing wagers. Will probably be posting here out of passion for the commitment (people call it addiction, we all know it’s really an unbreakable commitment!)

Good afternoon!
I don’t often look at lines beyond and initial glance. I did not expect Florida to be +125. I see that line and start salivating. I want to hammer it, buuuuuut if something looks too good to be true it probably is. I do believe a combination of Florida being red hot combined with Carolina having a bit more time off (rest is good, sometimes you come back sluggish) were the main culprits for Carolina’s result in game 1. If anyone has a thought to offer, please share it! I’d benefit from different perspectives on it. I need to try to see it from other angles, thank you for your time and consideration! ????

Good morning! Wrap-up from my last post - I hope someone listened tailed the Aves/Sabres... I commented on a goalie appearance, I looked quickly at Levi's stats and thought I saw dashes across the board which I inferred as a start. A deeper dive would have showed me his first appearance was on 3/31 in their W against the Rangers. I misspoke! Let's take a look at some Round 1 playoff match-ups!
Hurricanes v. Islanders - Aho, Aho, it's off to work we go! This will be a great series. The Hurricanes have had a lengthy edge at UBS Arena; the Isles (in my opinion) had a relatively stagnant finish to the season. I didn't get a sense of much momentum like I did from watching Buffalo heat up. Both Sorokin and Andersen tout GAA's below 2.50, if they remain healthy and don't have huge defensive coverage blowups I would lean under on every game this series individually and expect to be up when the dust settles. Brazil back for the Isles (short boost), looking back over to the 'Canes they've had Jesperi (18g, 43p) display an onset of production; keep in mind most of this production was from the bottom half of their roster; but he's proven to be a surprising replacement for Trochek which includes good defensive play and less penalties. Overall a really exciting matchup! Now I know what you're thinking, 'but Prodigy how can it be an exciting series, that conflicts with you leaning under every game for the series, surely you realize you're mildly hypocritical'. Yes, yes, I know I lean under for the series but low/er scoring games can be exciting too!! Plus, PNC will be ROCKIN (like a hurricane?). These arenas will be loud and I am HERE FOR IT. Series prediction - Hurricanes take this series (let's go 4-1/4-2). Game 1 prediction - I think Hurricanes take this game (lean on the under, can see a 3-1/4-2 'Canes win).
Life obligations call... more to come later! Have a great rest of your morning! Cheers! |

Not much going on tonight.
Aves v. Predators - Preds are about to sail into the off season, Aves are geared up for playoffs. Main theme tonight for the Aves is no injuries, might rest some starters but regardless I think the Aves win here. Plus if Preds lose, better draft odds AND the Stars would lose the Central Division title. Are the Preds that petty? Probably not. Does this give the Aves juuuuust enough reason to play for the W? I side with 'yes'. I think the Aves win this game (lean on the under since both projected goalies have less than a 2.70 GAA).
Sabres v. CBJ - REALLY not much going on here. Both teams playing for absolutely nothing. Sabres potentially sitting some players, CBJ goalie having something like a 4.56 GAA, Sabres goalie making a debut. I always like a player making a debut as it's sort of a wildcard situation and regardless of big picture, they play for themselves. I think Sabres goalie plays above expected levels tonight and holds up for a Sabres win. I think the Sabres win here (lean on the over).
I am parlaying Aves ML/Sabres ML - $800 to win $1,856. Let's see what happens |

Devils v. Capitals - This... this is a weird one. It sounded like Ovi might play tonight. Yes, yes, I know.... the Caps (and Pens) are not in the playoffs but no one will ever make me believe it's possible Ovechkin steps on the ice and doesn't make some magic happen or inspire his teammates to generate some heat. The guy has an aura around him, we all know it, and it's like.... can we put any stock in the fact that they're eliminated from the playoffs so they won't play hard? It's entirely possible, but with this team as long as Ovechkin is suiting up I'll never be in that camp. So we have the young guns with the hip and trendy Devils vs. the titan of a dwindling era.... has a sort of David vs. Goliath feel for me and I'm REALLY interested to watch this one. I'll defer to Mackenzie Blackwood between the pipes and Luke Hughes starting off -1 +/- for the Devils to land on the unsuspecting Capitals win tonight. I think the Capitals pull off a sly upset in a lower than expected scoring contest. (Yes, we lean under here, I wouldn't be surprised if the Devils have more time on attack, but get stuffed, while the Caps manage to capitalize on a couple of chances they find with one hopefully being the cross ice Ovi one timer from just below the top of the circle! Who doesn't love a pipe dream, that's why we're all here... isn't it?) Bruins v. Habs - The legendary matchup that no one will really care about (tonight, anyways). One of the most renown matchups in the history of the league which some may (I use 'some' lightly; more specifically if you're from Boston or Montreal) consider the greatest matchups of all time. The B's have blown this season out of the water and the Habs are clinging on (I'm being generous here) to any thread of self respect they can manage to find. I'm not even sure if we can call it a rebuilding year for them, I'll need to refer to my thesaurus to find an apt adjective for this season... but I'm going B's here; every day of the week and twice on Sunday. They cannot and will not be stopped by the faux red white and blue. I think the Bruins win tonight. (I lean over, and might even lean Habs team total under regardless of the number) |

With this many games, my first tendency is to look at each game and call out a gut instinct winner (straight up, no PL, no scores in mind). For that, I scanned the games and said to myself - Leafs, Penguins, Devils, Bruins, Hurricanes, Senators, Lightning, Aves, Wild, Stars, Blackhawks, Oilers, Kings, Canucks, Kraken.
Malcom Gladwell's Blink had me thinking I do a monster parlay with this! But.... Absolutely not, sooooo let's try to take as good of a look at some of these as we can. When looking at games I'll usually look at recent matchups between the teams; some teams seem to own other teams regardless of current lineup or home v. away, it's a weird sports psychology thing in my mind, this weird construct I have of how teams play each other overall... thank you for bearing with me during all of my ADHD digressions. I'll check overall and recent history, and then recent player stats, check who is in and out of the lineups, does one team seem to have any momentum, are some players trying to prove something, are there any playoff implications.... lots of general things I'll look at in no particular order and try to form macro view opinions on games. ^^ Insights into my wonky cranium for the process^^
Maple Leafs v. Rangers - While no playoff or standings implication exists here, one could argue the Leafs have more to play for with top players hunting for numbers. Both teams have the ability to tweak lines, play with things, or even look towards some younger players that don't see much ice time since this is the time they can allow for that. Some top players could be sitting, but the biggest theme tonight is everyone on both sides stay healthy and ready for playoffs. With Woll projected to start for the Leafs and Shesterkin expected for the Rangers, I think Shesterkin will be the strongest part of the Rangers game tonight while the Leafs top players fuel for some numbers will be theirs. I think the Leafs win here (lean on the under, something like 3-1/4-2 final score).
Penguins v. CBJ - Not a fun game to look at, I am shocked the Pens couldn't get it together for 60 minutes against the Blackhawks, maybe they collectively decided the off-season seemed more enticing than a spot to impress Lord Stanley himself, only they know and they'll never tell us **hard shrug while saying that one, make sure you re-read the sentence and shrug at the end, it feels good**. With that being said, I think CBJ have more reason to notttttt push for the W with the tank ship they've hopped on with lottery dreams, that coupled with Hutchinson in net are enough for me to say Pens take this tonight. I'm also not interested in reading anything else about either of these clubs. Only other thought without having to read anything is this is a perfect game to play younger guys, get some ice time for less exposed players during regular season/high priority situations so there will always be more effort from those guys which I would guess will be the wild card factor tonight and/or the reason any outcome is had. Full disclosure I'm not looking into which players those situations might include, so while I admit I do have (even by my own non factual wonky standards) insufficient information to form my outlier opinions I'm going with the Pens here (I don't want to because of the Chicago game, idk man). I think the Pens win here (lean on the over given Hutchinson and his volatility between the pipes, join me on an imaginary ride of seeing a 3-1/4-1/5-2 type Pens win!)

I know it means nothing posted after the fact... I should have commented my move much earlier but I ended up parlaying Isles -1.5 + Stars ML, $500 to win $1,392.00. Yes yes yes, I know... anyone can fabricate anything after the fact and post misleading comments/stats/positions. I wanted to do a write-up for todays games so I'll be better about posting positions before puck drop! |

Stars ML - I believe Wedgewood will be trying to prove he's solid enough to handle a playoff workload if the stars align for him, while Dallas will also push to overtake my beloved Avalanche in the Pacific realm. Hofer has been solid for the Blues so I think Dallas pull it off in a lower than expected scoring game.... results TBD....
Habs/Isles Under - I WANT to take or parlay in Isles ML because in the depths of my heart I believe they will win. I think the Habs have had trouble scoring as of late, as well as trouble firing on multiple cylinders simultaneously. I think this will be a lower scoring game but I just can't bring myself to take a winner. If I did, I know I would disappoint myself, wanting to make it spicy and taking Habs ML. Under it is.... a winner is TBD.
Flames ML (over lean) - They have a goalie with the last name of Wolf. Need I say more? Badass name, stepping up from the A to make his debut. He'll be ready to go, both teams out of playoffs, I think the goalie making his debut plays the better game with something to more hunger to play well and the Flames pull it out.
We shall see.... best of luck to everyone, and I hope you all make it a great day! Cheers! - Prodigy |

Dabbled with hockey last year, I haven't been super in tune with the league this year but just started to now, let's see what happens today! **Before any stones are thrown, full heads up I lead a lot with my gut with hockey stuff and not as much fact/number based. If that isn't your cup of tea, please save your time and energy typing factual responses. They hold no weight in this thread.**
Sabres ML - Although the fellas from Buffalo are BASICALLY out of playoff contention. They're molding together real nice, playing hot and are finding their stride right as the season ends. Makes me excited for next year but I think they're going to want to carry it to the finish line this year so it can really carry into next year. I think Buffalo pushes hard at the tail end, and I think they grab the W against the Rangers today. Isles ML - Caps are checked out, I think NYI fights to get momentum to have it carry them as deep into the playoffs as possible, going Isles here. Kraken ML - Coyotes are checked out, Kraken roll here. Maple Leafs ML - Their offense will be too much for the house cats today.
Leans - Flames, Red Wings, Kings.
Best of luck! Hope everyone has a great day, not just in regards to hockey or sports, but overall! Thanks for reading, cheers! - Prodigy |

My entire perception is absolutely warped after that game, along with everyone else’s. Trying to understand that entire series of events (aka the entire game) causes my brain to hurt. Out of 3 posts on Covers, 1 was bueno and 2 were muyyyyy malo. My follow-up tilt play is to go with Under 45 on Thursday…. Since my gut leans towards the notion of sort of ‘both teams have the ability to score’, I inherently would go over whatever the number is. So…. let’s inverse that! Tilt plays of any size are ill advised, but here we are. Let’s give it a whirl and see what happens.
I hope everyone smashes every single bet they make this week, winning money and also the god damn shirt off the backs of every single bookie in existence. Go get ‘em and we’ll see how Thursday goes ???????
All the best, Prodigy |

Good morning Covers! Yesterday was mildly fatiguing, 5 games with 30 points or less (if I counted correctly) seemed extra snooze-fest. I'm not sure tonight will be a good game to wake us up, but I hope I'm wrong. Bears seem to have little to (more towards) no offense. People rant and rave about their D but the team as a whole (not looking at stats, just going off personal bias here so don't chastise me) seems dull. I mentally (also personal bias, not fact based... not looking at stats here just going from the gut and off the hip so again please no chastising) but the Pats in my mind associate with little offense and a solid D - here's what the gut told me for tonight ---- **6.5 point teased parlay** Pats -1.5/Under 46.5 (-130) 61.73 to win 47.48 Player props - Stevenson Over 61.5 rushing yards 100 to win 85.47, Field Over .5 interceptions 50 to win 27.93, Field Under 159.5 passing yards The Fields passing yards kiiiind of caught me off guard, he seemed to be around 144/YPG and the 159.5 I offered seemed too high for his average. Under SEEMED to be the play but I guess it could also be a trap where it looks like a lock, but isn't. We all know how that goes.
Best of luck to everyone, I hope you all make it a great Monday. Be Well!! - Prodigy |

Good morning! Looked at this matchup and my gut screamed ??under??. Denver had a VERY slow start, which seems to be picking up. Maybe it is, but I’m not convinced. Indy seems to also be having a tough time scoring, I don’t think that’ll change against the Denver D. Denver ML & Under 42 parlayed it is for me! |

Good morning Covers, Short time lurker, big forum fan, decided to pull the trigger and start posting. Thanks for reading my first post!!! Attempted to post last night before the game but was told I need to be a member for at least 1 day before creating a thread, so, that wasn't an enjoyable moment. I'm normally partial towards parlays unless I feel strongly about a game, in which case I'll do individual bets. No set unit amount, it's more of a what I feel comfortable with in that moment while also keeping it reasonable by my standards. I know the Forum decorum has transitioned from discussing plays/games to just posting winners, I find it a bit of science and magic so let's see how this season goes! I hope everyone has a great NFL season/rest of the year, let's have fun and make some money (or Ziti, as one Italian individual seems to keep saying). Cheers!
Last nights plays - didn't get them posted in time so I'm not counting them towards anything... went with two parlays Charges +4/Under 52.5 $200 to win $528.93 and Charges +10/Under 58.5 $300 to win $250 .... felt strongly about this one but not to the brim with confidence so I decided to tease it to hopefully cover myself in case I was off on one of my picks therefore creating a win/win (hopefully) situation, which paid off. |
