Blazers +3 1/2 Three OKC starters will miss tonight (Dort, Holmgren and Caruso) and the Blazers still aren't getting the respect they deserve. Portland gives the Thunder their first loss!

Jazz +5 1/2 (3 point buy -160) The Jazz are a formidable team this season but the market has yet to realize it. Other sharp handicappers agree, as evidenced by the opening line of +4 1/2 being bet down to +2 1/2 at most sportsbooks, despite a meager 36% of the public betting them. Things I like about Utah tonight are Phoenix doesn't play much D. I'm projecting Utah to outrebound the Suns by double digits, they should get to the line more than Phoneix (where they're extremely efficient at 87% this season). I like that Utah beat the Suns earlier this season despite losing the turnover battle by five. The Jazz also play a tad better defense. We probably won't need them, but I'm laying an extra three points because we missed out on the line move and Phoneix usually plays well versus Utah. I don't put much weight into trends, but the Suns have beaten Utah nine out of the last ten times, so I kinda like having some extra points. Lastly, I'm hoping to get a little ding from Suns players who might have other things on their mind such as their families and going to Halloween parties after the game. I'd never bet a game based on such thinking, but it surely doesn't hurt!

Blazers ML -155 The betting market has yet to adjust to this exciting young nucleus of players who continue to play great defense, force turnovers and play good fundamental basketball. I love Holiday on young George and Toumani on Lauri! Both Jazz top scorers should be slowed down by these matchups. Blazers by 7+!

Dodgers -206 Im not a big fan of betting World Series games, as theoretically, it's like splitting hairs betting the two best/hottest teams against each other. In this case, it can't be ignored that Shohei is playing other-worldly right now. Second, if you've known me for any length of time, I've got a buddy who played in MLB and once told me that the hardest thing to come back from was losing a game in extra innings. He said it was almost an automatic loss the next day. How about losing a World Series extra innings game in extra innings? That has got to be deflating! I wouldn't be surprised if the Blue Jays put up a goose egg tonight.

Heat ML -218 The Charlotte Hornets losing Brandon Miller is an absolute disaster for the team. But what I really like here is they're playing their third road game in four nights. Brutal scheduling and a bunch of young guys getting to spend their off day in Miami equals trouble. NBA players are known for frequenting clubs while in Miami, so it's possible they'll be flat after the jet lag/fatigue/booze/bush factor! Statistically speaking, the Heat play much better defense and defend the three point line way better than the Hornets. I'm betting the moneyline with confidence!

Blazers ML -142 The Blazers are GOOD this season and the market has yet to react. They're playing tenacious defense! Like as good as I've seen in a decade. They'll go up against a Lakers team that is depleted. (No LeBron/Luka).

Hornets on a 4 point buy, moving the line from +4 1/2 to +8 1/2 (-209) Paul George is out, Embiid is on a minutes restriction. Charlotte is healthy and should be able to compete tonight! Game tips off at 7:30PM ET.

Trail Blazers +4 1/2 The Blazers are going to surprise some teams this season. They're a great defensive unit. T-Wolves starter Anthony Edwards has been experiencing back spasms recently. He's listed as questionable, but even if he does play, he won't be at 100%. Great value here!

Dodgers -210 The Milwaukee Brewers only scoring three runs over their last three games kind of speaks for itself. It's hard to fathom that they turn it around in a high-stress situation like tonight's Game 4 with Quintana on the mound, who finished out the regular season with four uninspiring starts.

Blue Jays/Mariners OVER 7 1/2 This matchup sets up perfectly for runs. The past four meetings in Seattle have all gone Over, and both starters carry red flags that point to more of the same. Max Scherzer's form has fallen off a cliff - he's given up four or more earned in four of his last five outings and surrendered homers in each. Luis Castillo's layoff is an issue; he's thrown just 1 1/3 innings in 11 days, and his two starts vs. Toronto this year were rough (eight earned in ten innings). With live bats and questionable command on both sides, 7 1/2 looks short.

Blue Jays/Mariners UNDER 7 Bieber has been nothing less than masterful when pitching in Seattle during his career. The Mariners have to be tired after their big extra innings win, then flying to Toronto, dealing with customs, two big wins, etc and then having to fly back. I'm expecting M's bats to be flat and Kirby to have an excellent game, with runs being at an absolute premium. Predicting 3 or less!

Phillies/Dodgers OVER 8 Both lineups can mash, and the pitchers have struggled in this matchup. Sanchez has been sharp lately, but the Dodgers have hit him hard all year. Glasnow's got swing-and-miss stuff, but Philly roughed him up last time. Add in warm air, wind blowing out, and two tired bullpens - that's a recipe for runs. Feels like this one gets past the number.

Yankees/Jays OVER 8 1/2 (-105) You can make a strong case for a Yankees bounce-back, but the Over offers more value in this matchup. Toronto's sending out a rookie starter to face one of the most disciplined and powerful lineups in baseball - a tall order when the bullpen's already stretched after 13 innings in the last three games. The Yankees are averaging over five runs per outing and punish fastballs early, while Max Fried hasn't been sharp against the Jays, allowing 11 earned runs over his last three starts versus them. Both clubs can hit lefties, both bullpens are taxed, and this setup points toward plenty of offense.

Mariners -1 1/2 Seattle's in a good spot here with George Kirby taking the ball against a Detroit lineup that just can't get much going. The Tigers have topped four runs only twice in their last ten games, and they're piecing this one together with a reliever to start - not ideal against a patient Mariners lineup that makes pitchers work. Kirby's been sharp, walking just one batter over his last 21 innings while keeping his WHIP under 1.00. Add in Seattle's steady bullpen and Detroit's leaky middle relief, and the runline looks like the right side.
