yes in an ideal sports venue scaling it would be the answer if you could do with the flip of a button. But in reality to scale every field, court, rink etc would take so much energy and costs. And who will pay for such costs? Probably fans and/or taxpayers. And then when would you have to rescale the fields of play? every 2 yrs, 5 yrs 10 yrs? Depend on the sport or growth/size of athlete in the sport they play? Idk sounds like a complete mess to tackle. Even so that does not justify why a 70 yd FG is scored the same as 25 yarder when the objective is to reach the end zone. |

Colts/Seahawks game perfect example... 60 and 56 yd FGs.....defenses are doing their job and getting hosed cuz of this ....yes i suppose they could narrow goalposts but then how are you gonna compare kickers from the past.... it would be like shortening the distance between bases in baseball and somebody comes along and steals more bases then Henderson and he's annoited the best....just a band aid...NFL has to address this cuz its gonna happen a lot lot more |

Did he just say that was his sixth 60 yarder? Thats what I'm talking about happening. |

@Raiders22 i remember Dempseys FG. With the technology back then the FG seemed a mile away. It has to be deflating for defense to hold teams to around mid field and then lose because of a soccer style kicker that can kick it a mile. You will see 80 yd FGs which means you have to get to your own 35. The current rules favor the offense. They don't need any help. If they don't address the issue pre game shows will be telling you all about the kickers foot like the QB's arm. Its football not soccer. Get rid of that goofy push play too, its not rugby...as far as basketball Bobby Knight called it years ago when introduced, it will ruin game. The novelty has worn off. There wont be any need for Centers to hang around basket. Starting line ups will phase out Centers and some forwards as rebounds on 3 pt shots travel much further from basket. |

i remember watching a game as a kid back in 70s. Reporter interviewing offensive lineman and to paraphrase the lineman " we beat the hell out of each other for 3 hours and a little skinny guy comes in for one play and he's the hero of the game" shaking his head referring to the FG kicker. That stuck with me. If NFL doesn't address problem it will suffer similar fate as NBA has with the 3 point shot. These guys played in different decades so go back to when they were rookies. What was a long FG back then ? Probably goes up 5-7 yds each decade. See where I am going with this. Your pregame analysis will not only include QB tendencies but also have to include FG kickers strengths, weaknesses, etc etc..They are hitting 60 yrders in college. 20 yrs from now you'll see 80 yrders in NFL. Then this game will evolve into Foot Ball. I'm sure proposals will include widening hash marks like college for harder angles. i agree with this but it's a band aid. Why not score the play accordingly in the spirit of American football. Simply put what's the objective of the offense- to get the ball in the end zone. Objective of defense- to prevent that from happening. So the closer the line of scrimmage is to the end zone the more points the kick is worth. Example would be 20 yardline or closer would be 4pts. 21-35 would be 3 pts. Outside 35 would be 2pts. This is just a quick example and can be tinkered with. Thus defense and offense rewarded in the spirit of the game |

From what I've been reading how Meyer will come up with a game plan to run and keep Ore off the field or how Ore will roll in 2nd half, how about Ohio St/ under and ore/ over?
